4. Who is Kevin Hogan?
Kevin Hogan has over 15 years of experience studying and teaching the
principles of covert hypnosis. Along with being a highly requested
international speaker he has also worked with fortune 500 companies
such as Boeing, Starbucks and Microsoft.
Kevin Hogan is also famously known as the man who read Bill Clintons
body language. During the Monica Lewinsky
affair Kevin Hogan has his body language
analysis report published by the New York
Post. His skills allowed him to see exactly
what was going through the mind of a man
who through circumstance tried to hide the
truth from the public.
It is these same skills that Kevin Hogan
brings to his Covert Hypnosis course. In the
covert hypnosis course Kevin Hogan teaches
how to use everyday language to persuade
people to fulfil any desire that you may have.
By studying Covert hypnosis:
• You will be able to win any negotiation
• You will be able to get a date with anyone you want
• You will be able to lead and inspire groups
• You will be able to persuade and influence anyone

5. Principle #1: Start with the End in Mind
One of the reasons that people do not enjoy quick success with
conversational hypnosis is that they do
not start with the end in mind.
What this means is that they do not
clearly consider what exactly they want
their end objective is for their
conversational hypnosis is and therefore
fail to ever reach it.
Before beginning you should have a
clear idea of what an ideal outcome
would be for you and what this outcome
would look like. You should also clearly
picture what each stage of the process
looks like so you know if you are on
course or if you need to make alterations
to your plan.
For example what will it look like when your subject is in a trance state?
What will their expression look like? How will they be reacting to your
conversation?
Next what would you like the person to do after you have used your
conversational hypnosis techniques on them? What words would you like
them to say and what actions would they take.
Without knowing these things it will be impossible for you to embed the
correct commands into your conversation and to track the progress that
you are making.
Remember decide before beginning what you want to achieve from your
conversational hypnosis.
6. Principle #2: Pace Your Conversation
It is important that when inducing a trance state and giving commands to
your subject that you pace your conversation according to their timeline
and not your own.
Often beginner covert hypnotists will be in a hurry to get to the point
where they are able to embed their command and to start persuading the
subject.
In the process they will not check to make sure that the subject is
responding correctly to the techniques that they are using.
During the session you may find that you need to move back and create
more rapport before moving forward once again.
You may discover that you need to slow your voice or repeat your
commands (remember repetition has a power all of its own) and you need
to watch for the signs that this is appropriate.
Conversational hypnosis is a two way process which requires not only
learning specific methods and techniques but also how to read the
subjects response to those techniques.
If you pace your conversational hypnosis sessions you will find that you
have a much greater degree of success with your conversational hypnosis.
7. Principle #3: The Power of Agreement
Getting agreement from your subject is a key technique in conversational
hypnosis.
When getting agreement from our subject we want to begin with things
that are obviously true to the person that you are hypnotizing. These may
be broad statements that almost nobody could disagree with.
Once we get the subject to agree to these obviously true statements we
can lead them down a path of agreement.
We continue with statements that while
plausible may not be as obviously true as
those first ones. While we do this we
continue to operate within the subjects
own framework of belief.
Eventually we are able to install our own
commands into the conversation which the
subject will agree with because we have
already taught them to agree to our
statements.
Once someone verbalizes agreement it is much harder for them to then
turn around later and reject it.
This used to great effect by the Republican party who had people pledge
their support to the candidate. Of course they were not obligated to
actually vote this way but most actually ended up voting the same way as
they had pledged.
8. Principle #4: The Power of AND
Using and to join two statements is a powerful way to persuade someone
without them noticing.
Remember when using conversational hypnosis you must operate within
the subjects frame of reality. That means that you must not reject things
that they believe to be true but instead use these thoughts to embed your
own commands.
So for example imagine that you wanted one of your employees to work
on a project but they stated they can’t because it is almost five pm.
You could state:
“Yes, it is almost five pm but I need you to work on this project”
When we use the word but or however it is like you are refusing what
they have stated before hand. You are rejecting their frame of reference
and trying to install your own.
If instead you were to use and the sentence would read.
“Yes, it is almost five pm and I need you to work on this project”
This second statement sounds like you are more restating what they
already believe to be true. However you are in affect giving them the
command that you wanted to.
9. Principle #5: The Power of Pitch
When we are talking how we use pitch will impact how our subject
registers the statement. The way that we deliver a statement, command or
a question is quite different in regards to pitch and we can use this to give
hidden commands.
When we talk about voice pitch
we mean does the voice rise or
fall towards the end of the
sentence.
Here is an overview of how
voice pitch effects the way a
sentence is registered:
Descending Pitch: Sentence is
registered as a command
Ascending Pitch: Sentence is registered as a question
Neutral Pitch: Sentence is registered as a statement
The best way to get a feel for this is to practice it yourself. So aloud to
yourself a question such as “Would you a cup of tea?” Notice how your
voice rises towards the end of the sentence.
Now say a command such as “Give me the book” Notice how your voice
descends towards the end of the sentence.
Now try and swap the two so that for the question your voice descends
and for the statement it ascends.
By using this vocal “trick” we can turn what sound like questions into
commands. This is effective because the conscious mind of our subject
registers it as a question and so does not automatically reject it.
However the unconscious mind registers it is as a command and will in
all likelihood comply.
