Our very own restaurant The Vineyard, a restaurant in Lagos, Nigeria, prepares meals with fresh ingredients so our guests can enjoy a healthy, delicious meal.  Here are some foods and their benefits to help improve your over-all health
  • 3. Fruits  Most of us know that fruits are delicious but what some people don’t know is that fruits are packed with a wide range of nutrients is very vital to our health. Research has shown that people who eat fruits and stick to healthy diets are at lower risks of certain chronic diseases including: heart disease, heart attack, and some fruits are even known to help reduce the risk of certain types of cancers.

Super Fruits  Avocados, which are known for their high fat content, are a great source of glutathione.  Glutathione is an antioxidant that decreases inflammation and improves overall hormone function.  Pomegranates are not only delicious; they are also known to contain high levels of antioxidants which can help keep the cardiovascular system healthy.  Not only are Blueberries high in antioxidants, they are also one of the top disease fighting fruits.
  • 5. Vegetables  Vegetables, although not as sweet as fruits, are very beneficial to our health. A healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables, and when combined with regular exercise, has been shown to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke.

Vegetables, when consumed daily and as a part of a balanced diet, have been shown to reduce the risk of certain types of cancers.  Some vegetables are rich in fiber which can help regulate your digestive systems and reduce the risk of obesity and type 2 diabetes.  Some vegetables such as asparagus are high in potassium and vitamin B12, which is important for cell repair and maintenance.
  • 7. Nuts  Like fruits and vegetables, different types of nuts contribute to enhancing our health. Most nuts are beneficial to us because they are loaded with fiber, essential fats, and protein to help combat diseases.
  • 8. Super Nuts  Almonds are high in calcium, so if you are not getting your recommended dose of calcium from dairy products consider incorporating almonds into your diet. Almonds also contain vitamin E which helps improve the skin’s condition.  Cashews are a great source of zinc and iron, and they are rich in protein. Cashews also contain mineral magnesium which is speculated to improve your memory.  Walnuts contain high levels of vitamin E and omega-3 fatty acids, and have been shown to enhance heart health.
