2. Healthy Stadia® Concept
“Healthy Stadia are those which promote the health of visitors, fans,
players, employees and the surrounding community... Places where
people can go to have a positive, healthy experience playing or
watching sport”
3. What is Healthy Stadia?
A holistic approach to developing stadia as health settings:
• Community Engagement Programmes:
Active lifestyles & healthier eating in young people,
men’s health projects, smoking cessation, active aging
• Workplace Wellness: Bike to work schemes, healthier food choices
at work, workplace health checks, use of club fitness facilities
• Health in Stadia Policies and Practices:
Smoke-free stadia policies, healthier food & drink
options at stadia, promoting active travel to stadia
4. European Healthy Stadia® Network
Key Objectives & Services of Network:
• Advocacy and lobbying on the promotion of health through sport &
stadia at national & European levels (e.g. EU and UEFA)
• Sharing of good practice through guidance documents & case studies
• Benchmarking of club and stadia health policies & practices through
‘Healthy Stadia Assessment’ & the new ‘Healthy Stadia Catering Mark’
• Bespoke support for clubs, stadia operators & governing bodies of
sport on development & roll out of health policies, practices & projects
5. Joining the Network
• Network funded by World Heart Federation,
as part of social responsibility partnership with UEFA
• Membership stands at +300 members (sports stadia, governing
bodies, health agencies and academic institutions)
• Network has national partners from 15 European countries:
