Fish Story
The Five Fishy Princes
Once upon a time in a very fishy kingdom, there lived five Princes. When the fishy
Princes were little, their parents went on a grand adventure to the wonderful ocean. The sad part
is, they never returned to their beloved sons. The kingdom was left in despair until one of the
sons became of age to take care of it. As they grew older, four of the princes ended up becoming
really close. The youngest, Kristoff, was left on his own because he didn’t want any part of the
responsibilities the kingdom offered him. He wanted to be free and able to travel to the ocean in
search of the parents that never came home. That very next month, Kristoff packed up his things
and head out for the sea. None of his brothers knew where he was going or even that he was
leaving the kingdom. When Braydon, the oldest, awoke that morning he couldn’t believe what
had happened.
He woke his brothers and they all searched frantically for Kristoff, but there was no
success. They all fell apart at the seams. Their little brother had gone off to who knows where
to do who knows what and there was nothing they could do for him. First it was weeks that went
by then months then years before finally the most amazing thing happened. Kristoff had
returned three years later by himself. There was no success in finding his parents and Kristoff
felt like such a failure. His brothers had heard from a local fish that one of the princes has been
spotted on the edge of the ocean, but he refuses to jump back into the kingdom. Frantically, the
2. brothers swam as fast as their fins could carry them. When they reached the edge of the bowl,
there he was adrift in the water.
They yelled his name over and over, but he didn’t know how to respond. He left
down his brothers and there is nothing he can do to make up for it. Their parents were
actually gone and there was nothing anyone could do, but for some reason Kristoff felt
like it was his duty to find them and prove that they just got lost. “Brothers, I am so sorry
I could not bring them home.” Braydon looked puzzled and finally realized what this
was all about. He said, “Kristoff, it is not your fault mom and dad are gone! You
wouldn’t have been able to find them on your own or even in your lifetime. They are
gone and we have each other that is what matters now. Please do not think this is your
fault because it is not! You are so brave for embarking on that adventure, but it is time to
come home now. I know we never were close, but you are our brother and we need you
with us until the ends of time.” Kristoff has always wanted to hear those words from his
brothers and now that he has, he knew what he had to do. With all his might he swam as
fast as he could and jumped out of the bowl with his kingdom and his brothers in his
sight.
