The Bethany Bison football team, with a record of 2-2 overall and 1-1 in conference play, will host the Westminster Titans, also 2-2 overall and 1-1 in conference, for their Homecoming game. In their last game, the Bison struggled defensively against the run and lost to Waynesburg 23-7, while the Titans nearly upset conference leader W&J but lost 20-16. The Bison will need to contain Titans running back John Proano and quarterback Shawn Lehocky to win. The Bison offense is led by running back Eric Walker and quarterback Matt Grimard, who both had strong performances against the Titans last season. If either team plays like

Bison Football on Homecoming
The Homecoming festivities are at full throttle this week of October 3-8, but Bethany College’s
students and fans always look forward to the football game on Saturdays on this week. The match-up
will be between the Bethany Bison (2-2) overall (1-1) PAC and the Westminster Titans (2-2) overall (1-1)
PAC. Bethany is coming off a disappointing 23-7 conference defeat from the Waynesburg Jacket, where
as the Titans gave, PAC leading W&J Presidents, a scare, however still lost, 20-16.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Bison weren’t able to hold off the Jackets run game as they
collected 210 yards on the ground. This week, they’ll be trying to focus in on halting the run game of
junior running back, John Proano (Titusville, PA), who has 152 yards on 56 carries with 2 touchdowns
this year. Another offensive threat the Bison need to watch out for is senior quarterback Shawn
Lehocky. He is a 3-year starter, who in three games has completed 42-76 passes, 424 passing yards, 2
touchdowns and one interception. Also, he is 10th all-time in total passing yards at Westminster. The
defensive needs to shutdown the Titans’ offense, which has not been very impressive this year, only
averaging 15 points a game.
The Bison offensive is always led by senior running back Eric Walker (New Brighton, Pa./New
Brighton) and sophomore quarter Matt Grimard(Lowell, Mass./Dracut). Walker is coming off a non-
Walker-like performance from last week, only gaining 49 yards on 13 carries on the ground with 1
reception for 7 yards. However, looking back to last year where Walker had a fantastic performance
against this Titan defense, rushing 33 times for 183 yards and 1 touchdown. Grimard also had a very
productive day on the ground and through the air in the same game last season; he had 83 rushing yards
on 19 carries and 3 runs into the end zone, also going 10-12 for 204 yards and 2 touchdown passes.
Overall, if either team remembers last years’ contest, this will be a high scoring game, but
hopefully for the Bison and coaching staff, they’ll bring home a victory and enjoy their 2011
Homecoming.
