2. Physical pain, vertigo, nausea, physical deprivation,
instinctual deprivation, emotional deprivation,
intellectual turmoil and many such things are
associated with suffering.
Every minute lived in suffering; leads to a
reverberating activity in brain that keeps on
producing agony of the past incidence and
inexplicable anxiety of similar suffering in future.
If we carefully think then it becomes clear that when
saints advise us to remain satisfied in a given
situation, they only mean that we should learn to
rise above or rather conquer the circumstances in
terms of “not allowing them to take toll of
ourselves”! The saints do not advise us to be
submissive or passive as is often interpreted!
This is very difficult because the factors producing
pain are very fast and work in the subconscious
realm! Theirs is a guerilla attack! To overcome this
3. attack one has to become subtler; subtler than
“perceived time”!
This is not possible by mere thinking! Hence the
saints and seers in the past advised us to recite,
chant and/or remember the name of God. This
activity is called “namasmaran”. Namasmaran leads
to a kind of enhanced encephalization and that leads
to conquest over perceived time. Obviously this
leads to eradication of dragging of one’s life. But
what is interesting is the ability to feel personal
experiences in the past, the events in the resent and
the apprehensions above the future, as if from; the
fourth dimension! This autonomic nervous and
limbic system involvement; in the memories of past,
concerns about the present and the worries of the
future gradually but certainly go on reducing. But
what is even more intriguing; is the accomplishment
of the feats such premonition, clairvoyance and so
on; which clearly elevate the individual life and
vision above the physiological limitations of the
three dimensions and enable the individual to live
beyond the reach of time by merging with cosmic
4. consciousness! More importantly, this is associated
with concrete and objective experience of being one
with the universe! This is exactly what is explicit in
Lord Krishna's (Cosmic consciousness personified)
description of the transtemporal cosmic nature of
life in the 10th and 11th chapters of Shrimad
Bhagavad Gita!
Since this hypothesis can not be verified by using
animals, it has to be experimented by human
volunteers and for sufficient time with sincere
involvement.
