An ultrasonic facial treatment is a procedure used to boost
the skin's production of collagen. When the latter occurs,
the skin becomes firmer and its cells go through their
cycles at a faster rate. This leads to clearer, younger
                         looking skin.
Procedures of this type are safe for most clients, although
results will vary from one individual to the next. The
procedure is often used as a secondary treatment after
one has participated in other procedures such as
microdermabrasion or electrolysis, which often result in
soreness, itching and swelling. Ultrasonic treatments can
alleviate such symptoms in many cases.
A handheld instrument is used during the process, which is
moved at a slow pace across the surface of the
individual's skin. The process takes approximately twenty
minutes, during which high-frequency sound waves are
emitted that are quickly absorbed through the skin's
pores. The frequencies of these sound waves do not
penetrate the person's connective tissues, muscles or
bones, but rather simply treat the surface of his or her
                            skin.
The level of frequency is usually decreased when the
procedure is being given around the eyes or other areas
where one's skin is apt to be delicate. It is typically
performed over the entire surface of one's facial skin.
However, spot treatments are also sometimes sought by
those with acne, age spots or patches of dead skin cells
            from former illnesses or injuries.
It is also possible for instruments of this kind to emit heat.
However, clients will not be subjected to heat at an
uncomfortable level. Because the sound waves the
instrument produces cannot be heard or felt, the
experience from the client's perspective is usually
somewhat akin to a light massage.
No side effects or discomforts are associated with an
ultrasonic facial treatment. Additionally numerous men
and women find that the procedure is highly relaxing. For
this reason, anyone concerned with the health of their
           skin should consider this procedure.
