1. THE FACES OF B É LMEZ
Bélmez faces are a phenomenon that occurs in 1971 on the floor of the house of Real
Street, number 5 (recently, the street has received the name of the owner of the house,
now deceased, María Gómez), the Bélmez Moraleda (Jaén, Spain). It is one of the so-
called hidden phenomena known in Spain and the World, which has led to an extensive
bibliography. Internationally, there are those who have told "without doubt the most
important paranormal phenomenon of twentieth century'' .. When you hear the Bélmez
Moraleda, then it is associated with those faces, but ... What faces?.
In fact, we may associate the village of Moraleda some faces, some formations that
resemble faces and busts that look like humans.
On August 23, 1971, Maria Gomez is at home when suddenly he found that on the floor
beside the stove, had a strange spot. Spot after a long time considered by her and her
husband John Pereira, was a kind of face. That day they didn't given much importance,
but as the hours passed, was clearly a human face. Pereira terrified family left the house,
the next day when they saw that picture on the floor. Miguel, frightened with their parents,
proceeded to break his face in the floor of the kitchen had appeared. But just a few
months later, specifically in September of that year, made another appearance very
similar to the previous one.
Miguel dug a pit in the kitchen of the house of 2'80 meters deep to find the origin of these
pictures. But the truth is only found numerous bones in the basement of the house of
Mary, which was part of a cemetery.
Shortly after plugging the floor with cement again, new faces had appeared in large
number. Since that time (1971) a lot of more of these faces have continued to appear.
One can distinguish male and female faces, in costumes and nudity. Many researchers
have come to the place but even today the origin of these appearances is still a mystery.
