Honeymoon is great opportunity to experience some adventure for the newlywed couple.
Bulgaria is connected to great-value skiing, sunny beaches and beautiful monasteries, with
several dramatic mountain ranges, superb seaside, a great number of historic towns and a
web of working villages with traditions straight out of the nineteenth century.
In any case - Romania is a country to visit twice, there are so many interesting and unique
things to do. I know someone teaching circuite interne you how to make cheese or taking you
on pure wilderness trips, just to give you a couple of examples (see my link for more).
UNESCO World Heritage currently includes seven groups of monuments and sites in
Romania: Danube Delta, Saxon settlements with fortified churches in Transylvania, Horezu
Monastery, the painted churches and monasteries in northern Moldavia, Citadel of
Sighisoara, the wooden churches of Maramures and Dacian fortresses from Orastie
Mountains.
On your walk, you will also want to stop by and visit the beautiful Darvas La Roche House
, with its stained glass decorated rooms and the State Theater, also built by two Viennese
entrepreneurs and hosting the Szigligeti Theater and Queen Mary Theater.
The first large refinery in the world opened at Ploie?ti in 1856 and the city flourished as a
trade and manufacturing center in the 17th and 18th centuries and much of the beautiful
downtown architecture dates from that period: the Nicolae Simache Clock Museum, the
former Creditul Prahovei, St. John the Baptist Cathedral, the Ghi?a Stoenescu House, and
the Radu Stanian House.
As discovered by the Dutch author Hans Corneel de Roos, the location Bram Stoker actually
had in mind for Castle Dracula while writing his novel was an empty mountain top, Mount
Izvorul Climanului, 2,033 m high, located in the Transylvanian Kelemen Alps near the former
border with Moldavia.
People planning to travel to Germany, Switzerland, Romania, the Czech Republic, Hungary,
Russia, and Kazakhstan will find being able to speak German a useful tool to communicate
with the natives, helping them better understand and appreciate the culture, practices, and
customs of the people.
Getting around Romania is relatively hard and inefficient for the great distances that have to
be covered in this country (this is after all, the second-largest country in Central Europe, after
Poland ). The transport infrastructure has been improving quite significantly recently, even
though roads remain a weak point.
The author Marius Iliescu is the founder of Romanian Friend , a locally-run initiative
promoting authentic Romanian tourism in lesser-known sights and supporting responsible
tourism in the country by partnering for tours with local guides, small businesses and non-
profits.
Bucharest 's Henri Coanda (Otopeni) Airport 2 is the largest and busiest, it has flights to
nearly all the major cities in Europe, to a few Middle Eastern capitals, to all other Romanian
cities, but no direct flights to the USA ; Since 2012 all traditional carriers and low-cost airlines
operate flights on this airport.
Transylvania : Popularly known as the home of Dracula, this region is actually a cultural hub
filled with Romania tourist attractions and outdoor adventure opportunities like hiking, skiing,
and rock climbing, plus it features some of the oldest and best-preserved medieval towns in
the country.
