  3. 3. IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS PLEASE READ AND OBSERVE ALL WARNINGS AND INSTRUCTIONS LISTED BELOW AND ON YOUR TELEVISION. THIS MANUAL FOR REFERENCE. This unit has been engineerecland manufactured to assure your personal safety. Howerver, improper use can potentially result in electrical shock fire hazard. In order not to defeat the safeguards incorporated into this television, observe all the following basic rules for installation, use and servicing. 1. This television is fully electronic and does not contain any user-serviceable parts. Therefore, NEVER REMOVE THE CABINET COVER OF THIS UNIT. DOING SO MAY EXPOSE YOU TO DANGEROUS VOLTAGES. Refer all servicing to a qual- ified service techanician. 2. After unpacking the television, examine it carefully for possible damage. If any is found, do not insert batteries into the TV or plug it into outlet. Contact your dealer or the service center. 3. This television should only be operated on the following power sources. a) 1.5—Volt, size "D" batteries-regular or rechargeable nickel-cadmium. b) standard, 120-Volt(220—Volt) household AC current. c) cigarette lighter socket of moter vehicle with a 12-Volt DC, negative- ground battery system. ‘ IMPORT : If you are not certain your vehicle operates on a l2-Volt DC, negative-ground system, consult the vehicle manual. 4. USE ONLY THIS AC ADAPTOR WHEN POWERING THIS UNIT ON HOUSEHOLD CURRENT OR A VEHICLE BATTERY. OTHER ADAPTOR ARE NOT SAFE AND WILL NOT FUNCTION WITH THIS HIGH*VOLTAGE UNIT. 5. If using the AC adaptor to power the television, be sure to plug the adaptor into the wall_right side up as indicated on the adaptor. This is necessary because the AC adaptor is polarized(that is, one of the blades is wider than the other). This is a safety feature. Donot defeat its purpose by plugging in the adaptor upside down. 6. Never use power cords or plugs that have been damaged or frayed. Replace them by contacting the TV service-center. 7. Slots and openings on the cabinet's upper cover is provided for ventilation. To prevent your television from overheating, do not block or cover these openings. ' a) Never cover the television with a cloth or other material. b) Do not allow drapes or curtains to block ventilation grilles. C) Never block these grilles by nestling the unit on a bed, sofa, rug, blanket or similar surface. - d) Never place the television near or above a radiator or heat register. e) Do not place the television in an enclosed space a bookcase for instance- unless proper ventilation is provided. 8. Never push objects of any kind through the ventilation slots into the inside of the television. This could in shock from Contact with dangerous voltage points, shorting out of parts of fire hazard. 9. Never place glasses or contains filled with liguid on top thetelevision. Liquid spilled into the set could severely damage the and cause electrical shock. 2

Do not use in or near water -(bathtub, sink, pool, wet basement, etc. ) Do not expose the unit to direct, intentes sunlight. If using outdoors, keep it shsded to prevent interior heat build-up. Before cleaning the television, always unplug it from the wall outlet. Do not apply liquid or aerosol cleaners. Instead, use a soft, dry cloth. If an outside antenna is going to attached to this unit, MAKE CERTAIN THE ANTENNA SYSTEM IS PROPERLY SET UP AND GROUNDED for protection against V0- tage surge and built-up static charges. IMPORTANT : If hooking the TV set to an outdoor antenna, you must use 3000hm : 750hm regulation adaptor. This adaptor is free with the purchase of a set of TV accessories. An outdoor antenna system should not be located in the vicinity of overh- ead power lines, electric lights or power circuits, nor where the antenna can fall into such power lines or circuits. WHEN INSTALLING AN OUTDOOR ANTANNA SYSTEM, TAKE EXTREME CARE NOT TO TOUCH POWER LINES OR CIRCUITS AS CONTACT WITH THEM COULD PROVE FATAL. For protection during lighting storms, or when the television is left un- used for long periods, unplug the set from the wall outlet, disconnect it from the antenna, and/ or remove the batteries. These measures will preve- nt damage to the television from lighting, power surges and battery acid leakage. If using the indoor antenna (The one attached to the set), never let any part of touch other electrical equipment-metal parts on a lamp, audio co- mponents, etc. Do not place your television on an unstable cart, stand, shelf or table. Serious injury to individuals and damage to the television may result sh- ould it fall. Place the television on flat, secure surfaces only. Avoid exposing the television to dust, shock or vibration. Never add accessories (speakers, headphones, etc. ) that have not been sp- ecifically designed for this television. Do not overload wall outlets and extension cords as this can result in fire, electric shock or blown fuses. Unplug the television from the wall outlet, and refer it to a qulified service technician under any of the following conditions. a) liquid has been spolled into the television. b) The television has been to rain or water. c) The television has been dropped or damaged. d) The television exhibits erratic changes in performance. e) The television does not operate normally by following the oprating instructions. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO MAKE ANY ADJUSTMENTS OTHER THAN THE NORMAL OPERATING PROCEDURES DESCRIBED IN THIS MANUAL. DO NOT UNSCREW PANELS ON TV OR ATTEMPT ANY REPAIRS YOURSELF. Inserting the earphone plug to this jack will cut off the speaker and allow personal listening. TV/ RADIO Tuning Control. Rotate this control to set the pointer to the desired channel on the tuning indicator. 4. VOLUME Control. 8. Turn in either direction to adjust volume. ON/ OFF Power Switch. Push the button to the TV set ON. Push it slightly again to be pulled to the TV set OFF. TV/ RADIO Band Selector. Set this selector to the desired TV, Radio Band (AM, FM, UHF, VH, VL) * VH-VHF High Channel, * VL-VHF Low Channel. HANDLE and STAND. when you want to change the angle of the receiver, Set the position as shown. EXTERNAL Antenna Jack. Open the battery compartment on the of the set by pressing the latch tabs. Insert eight, size "D" batteries. Be certain when inserting batteries to observe the proper polarity (+'or ‘). After inserting batteries, be sure to close the cover securelyby cli- cking the two latch tabs back into place. When either of the two optional power adaptor is plugged into the DC l2V jack on the back of the set, power from the batteries is automatic- ally shut off. NOTE : Although the TV was designed to run on regular size "D”batter- ies, we recommend you use rechargeable Ni-Cad batteries. 2. AC ADAPTOR OPERATION. To use the AC adaptor, insert the small plug end of the adaptor into the DC 12V jack on the back of the set. Then plug the two-pronged box plug into any standard l20—Volt AC wall outlet. Be sure to plug the ad- aptor into wall right side up. Use only the adaptor that came with your set. No other adaptor is safe for use with this unit. 3. DC ADAPTOR OPERATION. ) To use the DC adaptor, first remove the cigarette lighter in your mo- v tor vehic-one with a 12 -Volt DC. Negative ground battery system. ) Plug the torpedo-shaped end of the adaptor into socket. Make sure to push it in all the way. Plug the small end of the adaptor into the DC 12V jack on the back of the set. The TV will now operate off the curre- nt of your motor vehicle. Use the DC adaptor with this TV. No other DC adaptor is safe for use with the unit. Avoid running your TV from motor vehicle battery power for more than 3-hhours at a time, unless you start the car engine at intervals to en- sure that the battery stays charged.
