twelve inches. Its body is covered in slimy skin. Unlike most
salamanders, the axolotl never loses its gills.
5. The axolotl is a carnivore. This means it’s a meat eater. Common
foods are insects, fish, and molluscs.
6. Most salamanders leave the water when they become adults. But
not the axolotl. The axolotl spends its entire life underwater.
