• The birds do not commit suicide in
every month of theof year but they do
,highlight this village or only hill station
of Assam in the months September,
October and November every year. The
suicide in this area is not only
committed by the local birds but also
by the migratory birds. Tiger bittern,
little egret, Indian pita, Kingfisher, Black
drongo and green pigeon are the
names of some birds which commits
suicide.

of which they are forced to migrate to

committing this heart-breaking act because they believe

bamboo pole to capture these birds and they continue to
beat them till they are dead. They don’t keep this act
limited to 50 – 60 birds but they take it to the number of
millions.

•By making them aware and letting them know that there is nothing like ghosts.
•By increasing lighting facilities in these areas so that there can be proper light
attained even in foggy days.
•By making bird sanctuaries so that birds can be kept safely at one place with
proper care.
