Washington DC – on the Ground
Citizen Journalist Real News Perspective
This article is a brief update of this writer’s on-the-ground experiences, embedded in Downtown
Washington DC since January 4, 2021. It aims to offer an independent, factual account of day-to-
day living in DC during this period. This testimony offers an emotion-free, objective account that
contrasts starkly to the fake news mass panic article published by Fox, i.e., Murdoch’s fake news
empire. I refer to the article dated January 17, 2021. Please see Annex 1.
This writer has spent multiple hours each day on the street in the Downtown and Greater DC
area during the above-said timeframe. This includes travel during day time and evening, on foot
and aboard public transport. On January 11, 2011 he walked from Downtown DC to the Maryland
border and returned on foot. This was a six hour excursion.
This writer has not witnessed criminal or hostile acts in DC. On January 17, 2021 he entered the
so-called Green and Red security zones that surround Capitol Hill. Bag and metal detector
searches are required to enter the ‘Red Zone’. Defence staff working in these zones are cordial.
US Army and National Guard personnel in DC are discharging their duties in civilian-access areas
in a relaxed and professional manner. It is customary for some personnel to make eye contact

with civilians and offer pleasantries such as “good morning sir” and “good evening madam”. The
same may be said of some constabulary police personnel working in these zones.
Civilians in Downtown DC go about their daily leisure activities such as jogging and walking their
dogs. Commercial activity in the Central Business District is minimal. The COVID19 fake pandemic
lockdown accounts for the bulk of reduced commerce. This writer was in DC for one week during
December 2020. He reflects on this visit to draw this conclusion.
This writer urges people to be wary of fake news outlets such as Fox News that continue to push
fear, doom, and panic agenda. I refer to the image extracted from Newscorp’s Australia webpage
on January 18, 2021.
I reject Fox’s use of dramatic adjectives ‘shocking’ and ‘on edge’ in the image above.

Shocking
This image below is not ‘shocking’. Per America’s Second Amendment, citizens may bear arms at
public demonstrations in more than 99% of public spaces in America’s jurisdictions. This image
does not depict violence or the discharge of a weapon. It is not clear if this weapon is loaded.
Fake news Newscorp credit the dubious agency “Getty” as a supplier of this image. This disclosure
raises questions about whether Fox are using dated file stock images to support this article.

On edge
This writer is staying in a travelers’ lodge in Central DC. During the past 9 days he has observed
and socialized with around 100 visitors from most of America’s states. Using thematic
conversational analysis coding, he recalls that three of these people seem ‘on edge’ about the
presence of National Guards in Washington DC and other parts of America.
The vast bulk of civilian visitors to the so-called Green Zone and Red Zone in central DC appear
to be either nonplussed and/or intrigued by the unprecedented manners in which this area is in
lockdown prior to a Presidential inauguration. This light mood is consistent with themes
discussed by around fifty people who have occupied common areas in the lodge where I reside.
Quantification
The fake news Newscorp (Fox) article mentions quote “Boogaloo Boys protesting across US”. Fox
supply images of a few dozen or so civilians to support their claim of nation-wide protests.
None of these images show violence. It is not clear if these people are protesting or merely
occupying a public space. Readers must trust that this Newscorp article is objective and factual.

I refer to my constructive assessment of Fox News’s deceitful coverage of the overwhelmingly
peaceful pro-Trump rally in Capitol Hill DC on January 6, 2021. The cover page of this 45-page
open-access booklet features below.
The numerous lies and distortions in this Newscorp article repeat the same formula shown in the
booklet above. For example, no evidence is cited to prove that any supporters shown in the 24
digital images are quote “Donald Trump supporters descending on state Capitol buildings”.
In the opinion of this independent, self-funded citizen journalist – Fox News’s record speaks for
itself. This vile, corrupt CCP-aligned entity mostly spews vomit. It rarely tells truth.
