2. Chris Moss
Chris owns a farm and from this she creates wire sculptures based around the animals that
live on her farm and around her farm e.g. chickens, dogs and even birds.
This piece is of a Robin made from plain silver style wire.
This other piece is also of a robin but in this piece she has used coloured wires e.g. white
dark brown, bronze. I like this work because the sculptures she makes are a variety e.g.
dogs, birds. Also her style on how to create these sculptures is good as she makes them as
realistic as possible.
3. William Arnold
He has had a lifelong love of animals and by the age of 14 had taught himself taxidermy from
library books. This is a wire sculpture of a deer in which William Arnold created. He is famous for
many wire pieces e.g. buffalo wire sculpture in which was one of his biggest projects he did.
However one of his most famous is this deer.
I like this work as the buffalo piece is the biggest wire sculpture I have seen and the deer to me
looks very complicated showing he is very dedicated to his work. I also like the style of each e.g.
the colour of the wire and the pose of the sculptured animal.
4. Barry Sykes
Barry Sykes is famous for creating animals from wire sculptures; here are 2 dogs he
created with wire. Barry went to university and to study more on art, However he has
always enjoyed art and this is his hobby and job (to create wire sculptures of animals)
I like the style of this work as the wire used seems to represent dog fur, and the colour
makes the sculpture stand out and look more realistic altogether.
5. Celia Smith
Birds are Celia’s main inspiration; capturing their movement and character being a
primary concern. This is a piece from Celia Smith. One piece is of a Robin made from
wire in which are 2 different colours, brown and red.
The other piece is of a chicken and to make this she used wire; the colours of red,
black, sliver and bronze.
6. Elizabeth Berrien
She creates unforgettable wire sculptures for collectors, museums, and site specific
applications. One is a wire sculpture based around a Pelican beginning to fly. This is
one of Elizabeth’s most famous pieces.
This other piece is of a cat sculpture made from wire. In this piece she used the same
style wire as the pelican.
I like how she has made this wire style sculpture as it seems to make each animal
stand out.
7. Gary Tiplady
This is a wire sculpture of a rare Red squirrel created by Gary Tiplady. He used red
wire and white wire to complete this piece.
The other piece is of a dog made from wire. I like this style of this work as the colour
of the wire suites both pieces.
