¿Qué es la ROP?

Es una vitreoretinopatía proliferativa que ocurre en prematuros. La
cual consiste en una interrupción de la vasculogénesis, cuyos
cambios básicos son la isquemia local, angiogénesis y la
inducción de neovascularización.

En EUA causa ceguera en 1300 niños/año.



Incidencia en <1251gr  66-68%
CRYO-ROP
En México, en prematuros con promedio de 31.8sdg con peso
<1290gr que fueron revisados a los 38 días de VEU se encontró:

Detección temprana en población de riesgo

Tratamiento oportuno  Reducir # casos con secuelas desde
baja visual permanente hasta casos de ceguera.

Utilizar edad gestacional postmenstrual para determinar la 1ª
revisión oftalmológica:

<27sdg  30-31sdg de edad postmenstrual.
27-32sdg  semana 4-5 de edad postnatal.
>32sdg <1500g  semana 4-5 de edad postnatal.
