year age group. The study abroad scholarship includes hosting by the foreign
Rotary Club, homestay accommodation including meals with the host
family, primary tuition and placement in a school approved by a foreign Rotary
Club, 24-hour worldwide emergency assistance throughout the program, pre-
departure and some in-country orientations, and a monthly stipend from
hosting Rotary Club. The exclusions, on the other hand, include program
fees, primary insurance for travel, supplemental travel and medical
insurance, airfare/transportation, passport and visa application fees, and
other travel costs.
The spokesperson added, “Rotary Youth Exchange programs are of two types
– short-term and long-term exchanges. Short-term exchanges are designed
to last a few days or weeks, whereas long-term exchanges last a full
academic year. Those participating in the short-term exchanges don’t attend
school, as schools are not in session when we organize short-term
exchanges. The long-term exchange participants do get to attend school
during the exchange while living with multiple host families. However, the
short-term exchange participants are allowed to customize their exchange.
For example, they are given liberty to choose trips to specific places of their
choice during the exchange.”
