SBI, IDBI and IndianBank to link its floating rate loansfor MSME, housing and
retail tothe repo rate effective from Oct 1, 2019. SE SME IPO increased by 0.5%
and 1.4% during Aug 28, 2019-Sep 27, 2019. A similar trend was witnessed in the
broad market indices with both Sensex and Nifty having increased by 3.7% and
4.2% respectively during the period.
The bank credit to MSMEs has grown at a CAGR of 15% in the last decade. Services sector
accounts for over 60% of the total bank credit disbursed to MSME sector and thus has been
driving the overall MSME credit.As of July 19 , 2019, the outstanding credit disbursed to
MSME segment totalled Rs 10.47lkh crs. The incremental bank credit to MSME segment has
witnessed a contraction of (-)1.8% during March-July 2019 compared with (-)2.5%
contraction in the comparable period a year ago.

2019, the outstanding credit disbursed to MSME segment totalled Rs 10.47lkh
crs. The incremental bank credit to MSME segment has witnessed a
contraction of (-)1.8% during March-July 2019 compared with (-)2.5%
contraction in the comparable period a year ago.
 SBI, country’s largest lender decided to link all its floating rate loansfor MSME,
housingand retail to the repo rate effective from Oct 1, 2019. The lender has
decided voluntarily to extend the external benchmark based lending to
medium enterprises as well.
 Indian Bank and IDBI Bank has also decided to link all new floating rate retail
as well as MSME loans with RBI’s repo rate, effective from Oct 1, 2019.
 The government has mandated state owned banks to not declare stressed
assets of MSMEs as non-performing assets (NPAs) till March 31, 2020 in order
to lift up the economy by ensuring credit.
 Loan to small businesses in Gujarat declined by Rs 511 cr in Q1FY20 compared
with the previous year. Such decline was last witnessed during Q3FY17 (when
demonetization was announced). During that time, the outstanding advances
declined by Rs 3,980 crs over the previous quarter.
