Introduction
• Steven Darien serves as the chairman and CEO of The Cabot Advisory
Group, LLC, in Bridgewater, New Jersey. As such, he offers strategic
guidance in human resources (HR) and personnel management. Steven
Darien previously functioned in various other senior-level HR capacities,
which gives him a unique perspective on the potential function of HR
departments.
Although transformation is one of the most stressful processes through
which organizations go, HR professionals can facilitate the change it
implies. During this process, HR professionals serve as advocates for
employees and can get a good sense of how they are feeling. More
importantly, they can articulate concerns to organizational leaders so that
the latter can address them quickly.
The HR department should make a conscious effort to connect with all
employees, including senior leaders, to make sure their concerns are heard
and respected. This gesture makes employees feel valued and can
encourage them to remain through times of change. Furthermore, touching
base with employees can inform the new policies and procedures so that
the organization is better positioned for success after the transformation.
