A simple and effective process for moving Mac Outlook 2011 folders to Mac Mail version 5, no need for any software. **Note** There have been a lot of updates to Outlook for Mac and of course Mac Mail since this was written. I can't guarantee success. Also please make sure you have updated to the latest version of Outlook for Mac 2011. Success!

1. MOVING MICROSOFT OUTLOOK FOR MAC TO MAC MAIL
Create a Folder on your desktop and call it outlook
mail. Ensure that you have all your emails in
folders and the correct folders you wish to have
shown inside Mac Mail.
Drag each folder including each subfolder one by
one to the folder on your desktop.
When you have the folder positioned to the left of
outlook mail, as shown you can merely drag the
email folder to the desktop folder.
It converts each folder to .mbox, which you will
then be able to import to mac mail.
The folder that I dragged across to the
desktop folder was Electricity. As
soon as it is located into the folder, it
changes to .mbox. There is no
limitation how many outlook folders
you drag to the Outlook Mail folder. I
recommend that if you have many
subfolders that you do them in
batches that way you can import them
in batches and organise folders inside
mac mail.

2. MOVING MICROSOFT OUTLOOK FOR MAC TO MAC MAIL
To import the .mbox outlook mail folders, go to mac
mail and select from the top menu file and then
import mailboxes.
You are presented with this in order to
select the format and as shown select
‘files in mbox format’ and click continue.

3. MOVING MICROSOFT OUTLOOK FOR MAC TO MAC MAIL
Go to your desktop and
locate the outlook mail
folder that you created
and includes the outlook
mail folders with
the .mbox extension,
select all the ones you
wish to import.

4. MOVING MICROSOFT OUTLOOK FOR MAC TO MAC MAIL
Once it has imported the folders, you
will receive a confirmation message and
where to locate the mail folder.
All folders that are imported are shown
here. You are now able to create your
folder hierarchy inside mail. All message
that are imported will show as unread. A
quick way of making them read is to go into
the folder and select ‘cmd a’ on your
keyboard to select all messages and then
‘shift - cmd u’ to mark them as read. You
will have to do this for folder, but it’s worth it.
