Workers at the Maruti Suzuki plant in Manesar, India went on strike in 2011 to demand higher wages and better working conditions. After a violent clash, 117 workers were arrested and charged with murder. A court recently convicted 13 workers of rioting and criminal conspiracy but acquitted them of murder. Many see this as an injustice as the workers were peacefully protesting poor treatment and the trial was filled with inconsistencies. Unions and activists continue calling for justice and better treatment of workers in India.
