Zeus pursued the goddess Hera but she rejected him. To trick her, Zeus transformed into a dove pretending to need help. When Hera took pity and helped the dove, Zeus transformed back and took advantage of her vulnerable state. Forced to marry Zeus to hide her shame, Hera developed a jealous and spiteful nature towards Zeus and his other lovers.
