1) The document discusses motivation and how different individuals react to challenges in life such as poverty or unwanted pregnancy. It argues that how one reacts determines whether they are overcome by their circumstances or able to rise above them. 2) It provides examples of two pregnant girls, where one considers abortion and giving up while the other prepares to continue her education after giving birth. For two poor boys, one turns to crime but the other works hard to continue his education. 3) The key message is that we determine our own outcomes based on how we react to challenges, not the challenges themselves. We must generate dreams, set goals, and take action to achieve them despite inevitable obstacles.

Brilliant is the dreamer that works up from his sleep at once and embarks on pursuit for the dreams to the point they become a reality. Such are transformers. In fact, where there are no visions, people perish!!! I give praise unto God because my existence on earth, made possible by Him, has made it permissible for me to voyage in a transactional mode, from one setting to the other and the other way round, thereby leaving apparent to me diverse types of people in as far as survival is to be enlisted. I had to dine with the elite in their deluxe furniture and scramble for bread iotas with the commons in their destitute locale where aliment is hoped to be doled out. Put it this way: I had to be chauffeur-driven to school and back; and I had to play all the tricks at my disposal to slip away from the hands of the teacher when he was in to expel us from school for not shelling out school fees.
When loneliness haunts me, my ego at times, is left baffled with why we do what we do. Following the theories of motivation, while paying homage to Abraham Maslow's Theory of Human Motivation and Victor H. Vroom's Expectancy theory, I simply understand motivation as the answer to why we do what we do. Taking into account Sigmund Freud‟s principle of reality versus pleasure, my brain becomes young and begins to follow through a justification of what happens where and why; after having a synthesis of the subtext –the unsaid and the undone! Yes, for survival, man can do anything and for pleasure man can equally do anything. The difference is marked by our abilities to strike a balance between the two.
However, my devotion in this note runs to the way motivation works in two different individuals whose confrontational denominator is pooled. I am talking of

two standard 8 girls here that suddenly learn of their unwanted pregnancy. In other words, let your cognitive ability fabricate two young men whose battalion against abject poverty is nowhere vivid. The two cases above mentioned are a tip of an iceberg in as far as various circumstances in which varying individuals are found in this life. Without much effort, the list can develop into an endless one within a fraction of a second. Nevertheless, my note is not building up for that cause, rather the way we react to such pooled denominators.
In explication, one girl in standard 8, having realized she has unknowingly conceived, she smells her own doom right away. The prime becomes denial. Then fear of the unknown –imaginary parental scolding, social isolation, mockery, and stereotyped labor pains, conquers her even before it decides to do so. She either thinks of aborting the unborn child with all her possible justifications. Transition at a supersonic speed into a hopeless house wife becomes a window out of the confusion. Such reactions define the magnitude of her cowardice. As for the latter, with the same unexpected pregnancy, acceptance creeps in with all its agony though. She gives herself up to bear whatever comes to dent her face for all the nine months. Psychologically, she prepares herself as a mother and neither has any cogitation of abortion nor has bewilderment when the permanent visitor physically secures a place in her life. Her mind is set to return to school after weaning the child though no-one may be spotted having interest to finance her return to school. The magnitude of her bravery is signified by the trend and samples of her reactions.
As for the two young men that are abjectly impoverished, one will opt for delinquency with poverty held high as a placard serving playing the role of a scape goat. Once expelled from school, thoughts of returning will never make a knock on his door. Drug and substance abuse follows as a means through which he claims to tranquilize the paroxysms from the psychological wounds. If a door opens for theft, he jumps at it in the name of poverty. One fact for him stands out: such

moves tell how feeble minded he is. The latter takes the same poverty as a stepping stone and allows to be reduced to nothing simply to acquire means through which he continues with his studies. Piece-works and even begging and scavenging become strategies employed to achieve a self-bail out of poverty jail. In essence, such reactions define his gallantry.
I would have loved to spoil you with further examples. I would have considered two young ladies whose marriage is crumbling just after numerable months from the honeymoon. The list would have even been topped up with a pair of men in possession of their baccalaureate degrees whose one third of a decade since graduation has elapsed without them acquiring a job. Worse still, I would have chosen to inundate you with yet another case of two couples that were glamorously wedded making their big day conventionally spectacular, yet a decade and a half vanishing without a fruit of the womb in their respective marriages. With the assertion that the two explications on the given cases, one of the standard 8 pregnant girls and the other one of the impoverished young men, are enough analogies to let you draw sufficient senses, I put it to you to toil (if at all it is toiling) in deducing their respective reactions.
Looking around at the way we treat life and not how life treats us as many people erroneous assume, something can be figured out. Much as challenges are there in various degrees, it is not in their hands to determine our end line. Depending on how we react, the same challenge, to some will thrust themselves up and sing a different tune at the top while to others, they will be hit so hard to a point of being buried arrive sixty-nine feet under the ground marking the dramatic deviation standards.
As I move towards ending the life of this note, it is my purpose to serve you with a meal for your brain whose deliciousness will be decided based on how you consume it. Motivation is the reason behind whatever we do and Maslow assumes that we do what we do to meet a need of some sort and for the purpose of progress,

once such a need is realized, yet comes another need and life goes on!! Vroom in his expectancy theory argues that humans act according to their conscious expectations that a particular behavior will lead to specific desirable goals. Such goals in other words are the needs that Maslow talks about. It can be either under one, two or all of the following three components: expectancy in which there is a belief of the person that their effort will result in attainment of desired goals; instrumentality in which there is a belief of the person that they will receive a reward if the goal expected is met and valence in which the value of the reward according to the person is considered.
Let me murder this note by pointing out that the first step to be taken must be generation of a dream. Let what we have been feeling jealous of as our friends have been successfully taking the steps ascending to the angle above the base angles in Maslow‟s triangle inspire our dreams. That will then see us setting up our goals aimed at realizing our needs. Much as the dream and goals with clearly defined needs will be in our custody, we must be flexible sufficiently in learning how to act our plan and act it at once! In the course of implementation, it is even critical to note that challenges are inevitable. All we need is to move on as Martin Luther said it, „If you can‟t fly, run; if you can‟t run, walk; and if you can‟t walk, crawl.‟
Lastly, it is even important to note that “be responsible for your end-line: wake up and chase your dream into your reality!!”
You need to appreciate that God did include the brain in you for a purpose, use it accordingly for you are his image!
