Editor's Notes

  • #3 As we stack up today
  • #4 Our fleet of Satelites
  • #5 Our current coverage as well as the proposed coverage with Al Yah 3
  • #7 It’s not all gloomy, though. Africa’s Internet penetration is also expected to reach 50 percent by 2025 as smartphones hit a forecasted 360 million, increasing significantly from 16 percent and 67 million in 2013. And that means that Africa’s economies can grow – and Africans will get richer over time. There has been lots of research over the years – Deloitte, GSMA, and this latest data from SES – incidentally a partner of Yahsat in our Yahlive broadcast operations – which claims that for every 10 percent increase in broadband connectivity the GDP of developing nations rises y 1.38 percent. So, the impact of a 30 percent rise in broadband connectivity across Africa will have a major positive economic benefit.
