Turkey, the United States, South Africa, Lesotho, and Argentina were the top producers of mohair (the fiber of the Angora goat) between 1961-1991. Turkey produced the most mohair in 1961 at 5.7 thousand tons, while total world production was around 1985 thousand tons. By 1991, the United States produced the most at 7.9 thousand tons and total production had risen to 2009 thousand tons.
