Question 2
How effective is the combination of your
main product and ancillary texts?
A2 Media Studies
Evaluation
“Chooriyan” –A Documentary
Radio Advert
Newspaper Advert
For my title, I used the same font,
style and size for my title sequence
in the video as well as the
newspaper advert.
This was to create a uniform text
that the audience can recognize
with and relate to.

wearing chooriyan is a
tradition that will live
forever”
Documentary
Radio Ad
As per codes and conventions of radio ad, it was essential to add a audio clip in the radio ad
that had been used in the documentary. This was to create familiarity and to give the
audience a sneak peek into
the main product. For
that purpose, I used the
last and the most
powerful line from my
documentary
To fully relate all 3 of my media products, I also made sure that the two ancillary tasks also
shared a common characteristic. This was the use of a phrase that was used as a tagline in
the newspaper ad and as the opening phrase of the radio ad.

Newspaper Advert Opening Sequence from the video
The hanging bangles was our most important asset/prop, as it was a rather unique and
creative idea. We therefore didn’t let it go into the shadows and featured it both in our
opening sequence of the video and the newspaper ad, where the prop was initially made for
the former.
As an official recognizable logo that identifies my 3 products, Amazing Productions and
Geo’s logo had been:
• Featured in the opening sequence as well as ending credits of the documentary
• Published on the Newspaper Ad
• Mentioned in the Radio Ad
This is a technique used by almost all media production units in order to communicate to
the audience who owns what, who made the media products and how are they related to
the product. I applied the same method in all 3 of my products
WHY?
• The aim of all the above techniques was to effectively
combine my 3 media products in such a manner that
they do not look repetitive and similar but carry a
common aspect within themselves that connects them
to each other. Whether that aspect is the title, logo,
audio clips or just the colors used.
• I feel I have accomplished this task and put forward my
work to the audience as 3 unique media products that
combine to form a complete package.
