The Works Committee is a sub-section of the Industrial Disputes Act that allows the government to require employers in industrial establishments with 100 or more workers to form a committee consisting of representatives of employers and employees. The committee is meant to represent the various categories, groups, and classes of workers in the establishment. It must have no more than 20 members, with employee representatives making up at least half. The employer nominates employer representatives who are in direct contact with the work. The committee must meet at least once per quarter, and the employer must provide facilities for meetings and carrying out the committee's work.
