Chile has abundant forest resources that provide raw materials for its growing wood pellet industry. Three wood pellet plants have been established in Chile to produce pellets for domestic heating and international export. However, the industry faces challenges such as a small domestic market, long transport distances to major international markets, and reliance on old equipment. The government is implementing policies to regulate the wood market and reduce air pollution from wood burning to further develop the industry.
