1. Wisconsin Special Text Requirement
Collection agencies in Wisconsin need to change their collection notices to comply with new
Wisconsin bill, 2013 A.B. 277, which changes the existing text requirement from Wis. Admin. Code
§ DFI-Bkg 74.13(1).
Under the new changes, the following replaces the old special wording:
“This collection agency is licensed by the Division of Banking in the Wisconsin Department of
Financial Institutions, www.wdfi.org."
The notice has to be in 8-point font and can be on either the initial letter or in a letter sent up to five
days after the initial communication.
If printed on the back, the front should state the following verbiage...“Notice: See Reverse
Side for Important Information.â€Â
