I have found that the majority of what we know about an artist stems from what we can gather from his or her work. My drawings examine “Old Masters” works that I feel reveal the most about a particular artist and turn them around, sometimes literally in order to expose the artist behind the painting. I explore numerous compositional strategies, changing the meaning and context of such works and departing from traditional interpretations of paintings that have been studied for centuries.
