WHO WE ARE WGArchitects is a growing, full service architectural firm with a strong involvement in medium-large
scale projects.
We strive to maintain a creative edge and understand the processes involved in achieving a successful
development and the importance of quality design.
Our aesthetic designs inspire comfort and sustainability combined with functional efficiency and fit with
our built environment and our carbon environment.
HISTORY WGArchitects was established by Simon Greenhalgh in 2002 to create a multi faceted and
progressive architectural practice.
This objective has been achieved in the fact that the practice has successfully undertaken numerous

Our strategic growth has followed in line with our business plans. Projects which the practice has

WGArchitect’s geographical reach from its base in Brisbane, extends from Melbourne to Thursday
Island and Coolangatta to Perth and Exmouth in Western Australia. WGArchitects has undertaken
hospitality projects throughout Japan and is currently pursuing opportunities in Asia with several of our
established clients.

Apartment building on a corner site at
Labrador. This project has a range of apartment
styles with 2 and 3 bedroom apartments.
The roof top incorporated a BBQ, Pool and

A total of 6500m² was achieved over 6 floors and
3 car parking levels, in addition to 400m² of ground
floor retail.
51 Alfred St - Fortitude Valley
9 level commercial office over ground floor retail and
carparking. The development is designed with a 5
star GBCA rating target. A strong urban foot print
is an intrinsic element of the design used to gain
support of council.

WGA were commissioned for the first stage of this
greenfield development and then retained over
the years to design and master plan the evolving
shopping centre and surrounding land.
Metro On Beckett - Bridgeman Downs
The centre is a 1200m² mixed retail and office
convenience centre. Through lengthy negotiations
with statutory authorities vehicle access was granted
from Beckett Road to the site which initially was
refused.

WGA was engaged to prepare a concept master
plan for the site which fronts nearly 1km of
waterfront. The design incorporated a landscape
zone to the river with proposed amenities creating
a more public and user friendly interface with the
established marine activities and river.

The site is a disused clay pit, for which the client
wanted to identify potential uses and develop a plan
for lodgement to the local authority.

The client brief was to develop a concept plan for
a short term planning horizon while acknowledging
existing uses on the site.
Ryan GroupCoolum Market Place
The site was previously used for farming on the
fringe of town. In order to obtain statutory approvals
it was important to develop a plan that was cohesive
and self sustaining whilst not competing with the
established town centre of Coolum.

Simon’s interest lies in the areas of achieving exceptional outcomes that exceed brief
demands through innovation interpretations of the applicable legislation.
He is also committed to evolving WG Architects practice to a level of recognition that
will ultimately be acknowledged by its peers whilst not compromising the underlying
fundamentals of what the practice is built upon and stands for.
Simon graduated from QUT in 1988. His experience has been gained both in Brisbane and
the UK. A majority of his practice experience was with Prangley and Crofts Architects and
PDT Architects. After graduating, his experience prior to entering private practice has been
in the areas of retail design and commercial projects. Such project include, Pacific Fair
Shopping Centre, Metway Centre and Bankstown Sports Club. Simon’s involvement has
been generally from the leading design stages through to the documentation and on-site
administration. On entering private practice as a practitioner in 1993, has had extensive
experience in the residential section from domestic dwellings to high rise apartments,
Industrial and Retail.
The role that Simon undertakes as both Principle and Practice Director at WG Architects is
to oversee the concept and design phases of projects to ensure brief compliance, economy
and efficient of design and quality of Architectural outcomes.

Architecture is one of Adam’s greatest passions and he is constantly reading about new
ways to build, document and detail projects. For many years Adam was WG Architects
CAD Manager during which time he developed many of WG Architects in-house systems
for documentation and project control/delivery.
With a passion for understanding all things architecture, Adam has developed a role at WG
Architects as ‘the person to ask when nobody else knows the answer’. This is a skill he not
only demonstrates in the office, but also in liaising with clients and consultants.
Adam is an experienced and highly skilled senior project manager at WG Architects with
almost 20 years experience in commercial, industrial and mixed use buildings.
Specialising in residential architecture, Adam has developed a skill base which allows
him to not only manage but produce designs that not only work, but are highly practical,
aesthetically pleasing and cost effective. Adam’s experience through all stages of a project
has achieved high levels of design outcomes and solutions for our clients.
His passion towards construction, design and project management has supported his
development of a significant knowledge base surrounding detail, structure and construction
which not only aids project delivery but also assists in easing the coordination stages of
