Turtle was responsible for bringing the Sky Bowl filled with corn to the cliff top each morning to summon the Sun. However, one morning the bowl was missing, with only a feather from Vulture left behind. Turtle set out to retrieve the bowl from Vulture's nest high in the crags, but Grizzly, Eagle, and others refused to help her. After sitting by a stream and admiring the Moon's reflection, Turtle gained a hard shell from the Moon. With her new shell, she confronted Vulture and managed to get the bowl back when Vulture attacked and his beak bent on her shell, causing him to drop the bowl.

The skunk said he had a weapon under his tail to protect them. Later, when a coyote threatened the rabbit, the skunk scared the coyote away by using his smell. The coyote found them again and the skunk tried to use his smell again but was out of ammunition, so the coyote captured the rabbit.
