Waverly Hills Sanatorium in Kentucky was originally opened in 1910 to treat victims of the tuberculosis epidemic. As antibiotics were developed, it transitioned to treating patients with mental and physical disabilities. It has since closed and become known as one of the most haunted locations in the US, with reports of spirits of past patients and staff. Apparitions of a nurse screaming for help and a boy with a ball are commonly seen. The tunnels used to transport deceased patients to cremation are also sites of much paranormal activity.
The document provides a detailed history and overview of Waverly Hills Sanatorium in Louisville, Kentucky. It describes how the sanatorium was originally constructed in 1908 to treat tuberculosis patients and expanded over time. It discusses the high number of deaths from tuberculosis at the facility over the decades it operated, as well as reports of hauntings and paranormal activity by past patients and staff. The document serves as a comprehensive resource on the history and hauntings of Waverly Hills Sanatorium.
Tuberculosis was a serious bacterial disease in the 1930s, usually affecting the lungs. Common symptoms included night sweats, fever, coughing up blood, and weight loss. The main treatments at the time involved sending patients to sanatoriums, where they would get bed rest, nutritious diets, ultraviolet light therapy, and fresh air on open-air porches. Patients often stayed in sanatoriums for long periods, separated from family to prevent the spread of the disease. This took an emotional toll on both patients and their isolated family members.

The document provides five reasons for studying science fiction, including that it can teach history through historical fiction, explore real scientific theories, examine social issues, challenge existing paradigms, and feature high-quality writing. It also discusses media tie-ins, common science fiction and fantasy elements, examples of paranormal activity in Kentucky, Indiana and Tennessee, and the allegedly haunted Waverly Hills Sanatorium and Bobby Mackey's Music World locations. Finally, it summarizes the reported 1962 Indianapolis poltergeist case of flying objects in a woman's home.

Remote sensing is a biological ability for gathering information on a given person, or object,or an area at a distance by receiving the thinking wave or electromagnetic waves they have sent out via directed thinking.
Remote sensing is not a mysterious phenomenon, rather a “resonant frequency”, just like a television channel that receives electromagnetic signals of live broadcasting transmitted by a TV station and informs us of the happenings in a different place.
There are a lot of prophecies in the Bible, the Qur’an, and the Sutra. Actually these prophecies are a kind of remote sensing.
Telepathy is the universal phenomenon in the universe. Everything has telepathy. Strictly speaking, all activities of life-forms are the result of telepathy. More accurately, all the phenomena we see are the result of telepathy. The macroscopic and microscopic universes are both the result of telepathy. There is telepathy between plants and man, and there is also telepathy between man and gods.
In the final analysis, remote sensing, telesthesia, and telepathy is a program designed by the Greatest Creator to maintain the balance of nature. We can hence feel the unfathomable profundity of the Greatest Creator’s wisdom.
This document discusses examples of remote sensing, telesthesia, and telepathy in humans and animals. It provides 5 cases showing phenomena like quadruplets sharing symptoms, separated family members reuniting, a dead body returning home, mice predicting deaths, and snails responding to stimulation across distances. It explains that remote sensing allows gathering information at a distance, telesthesia is unconscious physiological response, and telepathy occurs universally between all things through electromagnetic signals, inducing responses.
Emily Pankhurst received a limited education focused on becoming a wife, which she felt was not as thorough as the education boys received. She was later sent to a school in Paris run by a headmistress who believed girls' education should be equal to boys', where she studied sciences and bookkeeping. Suffragettes adopted the hunger strike tactic starting in 1909 to protest long prison sentences, forcing the government to shorten sentences. Constance Lytton described being force-fed in prison in 1909, involving having her mouth pried open and a long tube inserted down her throat, making her choke and vomit. Annie Kenney experienced release after hunger strikes under the Cat and Mouse Act but was re-arrested
This document discusses various ghost stories and urban legends from York, England. It summarizes accounts of several reported ghosts in historic buildings in York, including a young Victorian girl who fell to her death on a staircase. It also examines modern urban legends, like Bloody Mary and Slenderman, which originated online and gained widespread popularity through digital sharing and adaptation. The document reflects on the nature of new urban legends and their relationship to viral internet memes. In conclusion, it notes that "The Licked Hand" is a particularly creepy tale, while Slenderman could inspire an interesting creative project given the real-life killings said to be influenced by the fictional character.
1. Documents discuss reports of small humanoid beings found in various locations, including Easter Island, Chile, and American Indian legends of "Little People".
2. The statues on Easter Island closely resemble the bodies of the small beings found in Russia and South America in size, shape, and exposed ribs/shoulder blades.
3. Native American legends widely describe "Little People" only 20 inches to 3 feet tall who were said to be spirits, healers, or associated with magic. Reports indicate ancient burial grounds of thousands of dwarf-like remains were found.

The Black Death plague occurred in 3 forms: pneumonic, septicemic, and bubonic. The bubonic form was most common, causing swollen lymph nodes (buboes) in the groin, armpits, and neck, along with headaches, fever, and vomiting. Europeans blamed the plague on various causes from astrological alignments to God's wrath, and treatments included herbal remedies, flagellation, and massacring Jews. An estimated 25 million people in Europe died between 1347-1352 during the pandemic, severely reducing the population.

The document discusses the institutionalization of women in 19th century American insane asylums. Many women were institutionalized not due to true insanity, but for behaviors that defied societal expectations. The document examines the case of Elizabeth Packard, who was incarcerated in 1860 for her "obnoxious views" that challenged her husband's authority. It describes the poor conditions inside the asylums and argues they were often used to imprison women for social transgressions rather than medical need. The conclusion is that many women housed in the asylums during this time were not actually insane.

This document summarizes several pieces of evidence that were previously used to support evolution but have since been disproven or shown to be fraudulent. It discusses the Piltdown Man hoax, Haeckel's fake embryo illustrations, the Nebraska Man scandal based on a single tooth, issues with interpretations of Archaeopteryx, and deception in experiments on peppered moths. In each case, evidence once claimed as proof of evolution is now recognized as invalid or intentionally misleading. The overall aim is to propagate the theory of evolution through propaganda despite a lack of scientific evidence.
1) Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was inspired to create the character of Sherlock Holmes after being impressed by the observational skills of his professor, Dr. Joseph Bell.
2) The TV character Dr. Gregory House was similarly based on Sherlock Holmes, who was in turn inspired by Dr. Bell and his medical deductive abilities.
3) While on vacation in 1901, Doyle heard local legends about ghostly hounds that roamed Dartmoor in Devonshire. This inspired him to write The Hound of the Baskervilles, bringing Sherlock Holmes back in a new story involving a mysterious hound.

The miasma theory held that diseases like cholera and the Black Death were caused by polluted air called miasma. Miasma was thought to be a poisonous vapor or mist filled with particles from decomposed matter that caused illness and had a foul smell. John Snow supported the germ theory that cholera was caused by an unidentified germ cell transmitted through drinking water, not miasma. His theory was initially seen as peculiar but is now accepted.

2. Haunted Sanatorium
“Is any wonder, after all of
the death, pain and
agony within these
walls, that Waverly Hills
is considered to be one
of the most haunted
places in the country?”
3. Tuberculosis
“During the 1800s and
early 1900s, America
was ravaged by a
deadly disease known
by many as the “white
death” --- tuberculosis.
This terrifying and very
contagious plague, for
which no cure
existed, claimed entire
families and
sometimes entire
towns.”
4. Waverly Hills
“As with many other
towns and cities
across the
country, hospitals were
needed to care for the
sick. In 1910, a
wooden, two-story
hospital with 40 beds
opened on one of the
highest elevated hills
in southern Jefferson
County to try and
contain this ravaging
disease.”
5. Home For the
Demented
“With the development of antibiotics the structure was
transitioned into a hospital for those suffering with
dementia and, mental and physical disabilities.”
6. Remaining Spirits
“Though the patients and staff are physically long
gone, many spirits seem to have remained. A man in
a white coat can be seen on occasion, he walks to the
kitchen and the smell of fresh baked bread is
apparent, though anyone looking at the kitchen can
easily see a forgotten dilapidated room where no one
has cooked anything in for decades.”
7. “Help Me”
” One of the most well known spirits at Waverly Hills: an
old woman specter who greets you at the
entrance, chains and blood dripping from her wrists
and ankles as she screams “Help Me!” and
“Somebody save me!” before disappearing into thin
air.”
8. The Body Chute
“What is the "Body Chute"? “
“Some people today call it a Body Slide, Body Chute, and even The Death
Tunnel, where the dead were transported down and collected at the bottom. A
group of Waverly medical staff would collect the bodies and take them off the
hill to be cremated or buried.”
9. Shadow People
Shadow people are amongst the other unnerving phenomena
at Waverly.
Visitors have reported seeing these silhouette figures all over
the sanatorium.
10. The Boy And The Ball
Wanna Play ?
“A famous ghost story is that
of a little boy named
Timmy, usually seen with a
ball.”
“You also know when Timmy
is around because people
have reported seeing a ball
roll up to them from the
darkness or bouncing in the
hallway.”
11. Room 502
“It is said that the body of a nurse who had hung
herself was discovered in the room. Many of the tales
surrounding room 502 say that the nurse killed herself
because she was pregnant and was not married, and
that the body had been in the room for quite a while
before it was discovered.”
12. The “Draining”
Table
“The hospital came up
with two solutions.
First, the dead bodies
were hung up, slit from
sternum to groin area
and drained of all fluids
after the autopsy. The
bodies were then sent
by cart down an
underground tunnel
which ran 500 feet
underground to the
receiving station down
the hill. The bodies were
taken by the surviving
family members or
cremated.”
“The dead bodies were thought to
be still contagious because of the
bacteria-filled bodily fluids.”
13. “Ghost Face”
“Look closely at this
photo, and you will see
a mysterious face
behind the two people
in this photo.They are
in front of a window
(with no glass) and on
an upper floor.The
face was not exposed
until after the photo
was developed.”
14. Paranormal Hot Spot
“The haunted history of Waverly Hills Sanatorium is
legendary and has placed the location among the
country's most active paranormal hot spots.”
15. Gruesome
Treatment
At times the treatments at Waverly
Hills was worse than the TB itself.
Thoracoplasty was the removal of
ribs opening the chest through out
several surgeries.
Lobectomy and Pneumoectomy
was the removal of the entire or
partial lung.
16. THE CREEPER
“One of the more
frightening
phenomenons tied to the
building is a shadow-like
being known as the
"Creeper"
or "Crawler", an ominous
looking figure that
moves quickly along the
floor and walls on all
fours.”
“While some claim this
entity to be demonic in
nature, at least one
person directly affiliated
with Waverly believes it
is the distorted, but far
less sinister, human
spirit of a man named
George. ”
17. 5th Floor Fright
“Room 502, is the
subject of many rumors
and legends. This is
where, according to the
stories, people have
jumped to their
deaths, have seen
shapes moving in the
windows and have heard
disembodied voices that
order trespassers to “get
out”.”
“Its believed that
mentally insane
tuberculosis patients
were housed on the fifth
floor.”
18. Mary
“Many have seen a little girl on
the third floor who is known as
"Mary.””
“One man said that he
encountered a little girl that
"wasn't normal." She kept
saying that she has no
eyes. He was so terrified that
he refused to enter the building
again. Some have seen the
child peering out the third floor
windows.”
“Although there is no certain
way to check this guess, the
patient by this name did exist.”
19. The Waverly Morgue
“The bodies moved through the morgue and out of the
body chute quickly where they were claimed by family
members or — because many were superstitious
about the disease and thought the spirit of the illness
would “jump” to them if they were around their
deceased loved ones — many bodies were placed in
a mass grave on the property.”
