SOFTWARE DEFINED NETWORKING (SDN) INTEGRATED GRIDSTATAman Bakshi
With increasing requirements of real-time monitoring of Power Grid and making the GridStat entities self-aware of the other Grids there is a need to for an approach that will provide the application specific QoS requirements and synchronization. In this report, we describe and expand upon the GridStat architecture by building a Software Defined Network (SDN) and using the OpenFlow protocol over GridStat. Our approach will also provide the same features, including specific QoS requirements and flexibility, as that of the traditional GridStat application. Security loopholes that arise due to this amalgamation of Software Defined Networking with GridStat have been identified and techniques to counter them have been devised as well as implemented in our project Approaches to making the system more secure is mentioned in detail in this report as well as practically implemented in our project. Finally we conclude with performing experiments, analyzing results and comparing our SDN approach with the traditional GridStat to prove that our approach provides a more efficient real-time monitoring of the Power Grid.
