New York City is the most populous city in the United States, located at the mouth of the Hudson River on the Atlantic Ocean. It covers 785 square kilometers and is one of the most important economic and cultural centers in America and the world. Two iconic landmarks in New York are the Statue of Liberty, designed by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi in 1865, and Central Park, the largest park in Manhattan designed by Frederik Law Olmsted and Calvet Vaux in 1866 to look natural but is largely man made.
