Introduction
O The Internet of Things (IoT) is a recent
communication paradigm that envisions
O a near future
O The objects of everyday life will be
equipped with microcontrollers,
transceivers for digital communication,
O Suitable protocol stacks that will make
them able to communicate with one
another and with the users, becoming an
integral part of the Internet
Continued..
O In complex scenario, the application of the IoT paradigm to
an
O urban context is of particular interest,
O as it responds to the strong push of many national
governments to adopt ICT solutions
O management of public affairs, thus realizing the so-called Smart
City concept
Service Offered by Smart City:
 Structural health of building
 Noise Monitoring
 Waste Management
 City Energy Consumption
 Air Quality
 Traffic Congestion
 By Enabling VANET Applications
CURRENT TRENDS AND FUTURE THOUGHTS
O Along rapid urbanization, making the cities
smart becomes imperative. It is fair to say,
WSN is evolving into the IoT
O WSN test bed activities of the last decade
have provided valuable information about
O The architecture
O Security
O Networking
O Data handling critical to large-scale IoT
implementation
Continued..
O Most of the test beds address targeted applications and their communication
backbone and other resources are not shared
O This obviously leads to high costs and complexity, nevertheless providing valuable
information about large-scale deployments
O The end goal of smart city IoT platform is to have plug-and play
O smart objects that can be deployed in any environment with an interoperable backbone
allowing them to blend with other
O smart objects around
O In order to realize this goal, there are many technological hurdles including
O Architecture
O energy efficiency
O Security
O privacy
O QoS
O Cloud computing
O Data analytics and
O GIS-based interpretation
O Standardization of frequency bands and protocols plays an important role in
accomplishing this goal
O Due to the scale of
O activities
O participation of large companies and
O The Government will play a pivotal role in the success of this emerging technology
Interest Areas
O My core interest in this topic is to collecting
the sensed data ,Analysing from various
sensors like
O Oxygen –To determining sea level
O Noise sensors – To determine noise level in
heart of the city
O Intelligent Transportations system to enable
safety applications
O For example for building ITS by enabling to
vehicular cloud we can use for Infotainment
services, and by making grid level cloud to
know near by areas traffic and borrowing
services through virtualization.
Thank you
