The Departmentof Home Affairswishestoannounce thatcongestionatBeitbridgeBorderPosthas
beenclearedandtraffichasreturnedtonormal.All lanesaroundthe borderhave beenclearedand
the borderhas beeneasilyaccessiblefromthe afternoonof 24 December2020. Thismeansthat all
travellersthroughBeitbridgehave beenprocessedandcleared.
The Departmentof Home Affairsworkedwiththe Departmentof Health,the SA NationalDefence
Force,the SA Police Service,the SA RevenueServiceandthe LimpopoProvincialGovernmentto
resolve the impasse thathadledtotrafficcongestionatBeitbridge.
The Musina Local Municipalityprovidedadditional holding areaswhichenabledvehiclesgoingtothe
borderto be releasedtotravel inmanageable numbers.The municipalityalsoprovidedablution
facilitiesandwateralongthe route fromthe town of Musina to the port of entry.
Travellersare urgedtocontinue observingtrafficandimmigrationlawsaswell ashealthprotocolsin
place to curb the spreadof the coronaviruspandemic.
