Words have different meanings to different cultures and people. The words "god" and "damn" mean different things to everyone, with some agreeing and others not. While "goddamn" was first used in 1928, people have become slaves to an imagined meaning and pass fear of usage onto children. In reality, a "dam" blocks the flow of individual thinking outside of religious programming. Neither "god" nor any word should control a person's nervous system or reactions.
Assessment_for_Learning
1) Traditional testing promotes "teaching to the test" and takes away the pleasure of learning, focusing only on rote memorization.
2) Portfolios are proposed as an alternative assessment method that can provide a holistic view of a student's knowledge and skills over time through samples of their work.
3) Portfolios have been used successfully in American schools and universities to assess writing skills, as they provide a more complete picture than multiple choice questions. They have also been used to assess student teachers' performance through samples of lesson plans, materials, and reflections.
