but.-   joins two contrasting ideas   Allende is very big.  It’s very dirty. Allende is very big,  but  its’ very dirty. Acapulco is fairly interesting.  It’s not too safe. Though and however.-   The meaning  are similar but though is much more common than however in conversation.
