What is Linux ?
Linux is a family of free and open-source software operating systems built
around the Linux kernel. Typically, Linux is packaged in a form known as
a Linux distribution for both desktop and server use. The defining
component of a Linux distribution is the Linux kernel, an operating system
kernel first released on September 17, 1991, by Linus Torvalds. Many
Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name. The number of
Linux distributions is declining. In 2018, The LiveCD List database of
active Linux distributions peaked at 323. Currently, however, it lists only
319.
What is Ubuntu ?
Ubuntu is a complete Linux operating system, freely
available with both community and professional support.
The Ubuntu community is built on the ideas
 software should be available free of charges
 software tools should be usable by people in their local
language and despite any disabilities and that people should
have the freedom to customize and alter their software in
whatever way they see fit.
