This document presents a case study on installing a steam turbine at Kanoria Chemicals' formaldehyde and hexamine manufacturing plant in Visakhapatnam, India. A 90 kW steam turbine was supplied and commissioned at the plant in 2010. The turbine operates in parallel with the pressure relief valve upstream of the process header. It provides electricity savings of 90 units per hour and approximately 7.1 lakh units per year. This has resulted in cost savings of 71 lakh rupees since installation. The turbine has also prevented the release of 140 tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere over two years, contributing to a greener environment.
