Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority was founded in 1898 at Longwood University in Virginia. Their symbols include the royal purple and pure white colors, a sailboat and skull and crossbones, and the purple violet flower. The sorority has pillars of faith, hope, love, wisdom and power and their philanthropy is the Sigma Sigma Sigma Foundation which supports children through programs like Sigma Serves Children and the Robbie Page Memorial Fund. Alpha Psi chapter at Eastern Illinois University helped colonize another chapter and started rain jackets and messenger bags as traditions. Famous Sigma Sigma Sigma members include Carrie Underwood and the creator of the Care Bears.
