On April 20, 2010, BP's Macondo well MC 252 exploded and caught fire around 10:00 pm while the Deepwater Horizon rig was drilling. The fire continued burning on April 22nd as the well reached a total depth of 18,360 feet below the mudline using the Deepwater Horizon rig located at 6940 feet from the north line and 1041 feet from the east line. MOEX Offshore and Anadarko jointly owned 35% of the Macondo Prospect wildcat well with BP.
