The Transfăgărășan is one of the most spectacular roads in the world. Built between 1970-1974 in the Southern Carpathian Mountains of Romania, it stretches for 90 km from north to south and reaches an altitude of up to 2,042 m. The road is considered an incredible feat of engineering for its time due to its hairpin turns, steep inclines and declines, and breathtaking scenery of the Făgăraș Mountains along its route.
