Tater Tots - Two Ways
Tater Tot BLT!
Ingredients:
● 1 32 oz bag Frozen Tater Tots, thawed
● ½ c Mayonnaise
● 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
● 4-6 slices cooked bacon
● ½ c Shredded Cheddar, Jack,Mozzarella or Pepperjack Cheese
● 2 Fresh Tomatoes, Sliced
● Lettuce Leaves (Romaine, Butter, Little Gems, Red Leaf)
● Salt and Pepper to taste
Equipment:
● Waffle Iron
● Small Mixing Bowl
● Chef’s Knife
● Cutting Board
● Knife or Spatula
● Salt and Pepper
Let’s Do This!
1. Preheat waffle iron on high.
2. Make Garlic Aioli: In a small bowl, mix minced garlic and mayonnaise of your choice
together. Add a pinch of salt to taste. Let sit at room temperature to allow flavors to meld
3. Cook the waffle #1: Place the thawed tater tots very close together in an even layer on the
waffle iron. Close the lid and press it down, using an oven mitt or a kitchen towel to protect
your hands. Cook until the tater tot waffle is crisp, about 5 – 10 minutes. (The exact time will
depend on your waffle maker). Remove the waffle from the iron and allow it to cool on a wire
rack.
4. Cook waffle #2: Repeat the process to make a second tater tot waffle. When waffle is done,
sprinkle with cheese, allow to melt. Remove from waffle iron when melted.
5. Place lettuce leaves on top of melted cheese.
6. Arrange slices of fresh tomato on top of lettuce
7. Place strips of cooked bacon on top of tomato
8. Dress Waffle #1 with Garlic Aioli, to taste. Place on top of tomato, and press gently.
9. Cut waffle into two or four pieces.
Tex Mex Hot-Tot Ole’
Ingredients:
● 2 tbsp Oil
● 1 lb Cooked Shredded Cooked Chicken
● 1 Small Yellow Onion, chopped
● 1 medium red bell pepper, diced
● 3 Tablespoons Taco Seasoning
● ⅔ cup water
● 1 cup frozen corn
● 1 15oz Black Beans, rinsed
● ¾ c Sour Cream
● ¾ c salsa (fresca or jar)
● 1 c Shredded Cheddar Cheese
● 1 32oz bag Ore Ida Tater Tots
● 2 c Shredded Cheese
● Diced Avocado
● Sliced Green Onions
Equipment:
● Cutting Board
● Chef’s Knife
● 9 x 13 Baking Dish
● Nonstick Cooking Spray or Oil
● Large skillet
● Salt and Pepper
Let’s Do This:
1. Preheat oven to 350.
2. Spray 9 x 13 baking dish with non stick cooking spray, set aside.
3. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add Oil, Onion, and Red Bell Pepper. Cook until
onions are translucent, approximately 8 minutes. Add Pulled Chicken. Stir in Taco Seasoning
and Water, and cook till water is reduced and mixture thickens, appx 5 minutes.
4. Add Corn, Black Beans, Sour Cream, and stir until combined.
5. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
6. Pour half of Tater Tots into bottom of the prepared baking dish, and top with Chicken
mixture. Sprinkle 1 cup Shredded Cheese over top. Top with remaining Tater Tots
7. Bake for 40 minutes, remove from oven and top with remaining cup of Shredded Cheese.
Bake 5-10 minutes longer till Tots are golden.
