Some people simply require a helping
hand around the house, whilst others prefer
the peace of mind provided by sheltered
accommodation or nursing within a
residential home.
Whether for a family member or ourselves,
the first time many of us really consider care
options is after a crisis - a fall, an illness or a
bereavement. And at a time of stress, anxiety
and uncertainty, the last thing you want to
face is a maze of complex information before
you can make the right decision.
So who can help you?
time4care specialises in providing expert
advice and help to families to ensure the
care they choose, the way they fund it and
any legal considerations are right for their
loved-ones.
Our personal advisers provide a single point
of contact and, whilst their advice is impartial
and objective, they never forget that they
are helping you to make important, and
sometimes difficult, life-changing decisions.
Of course, there are also some things that
you can do now to ensure a secure future
and we’ll help you with these too.
It’s impossible to put a price on the peace
of mind by knowing you’ve taken care of all
the practicalities. We think you’ll be pleasantly
surprised by the affordability of time4care
and we’re confident you’ll be delighted with
our service.

care advice
Choosing care can throw up a host of emotions - guilt, worry, confusion.
It’s one of the most difficult decisions most of us will ever face, so it makes
sense to ask for professional help. Our independent care advisers have helped
many families to find the right care for their loved-ones, ensuring a happy
outcome to one of life’s most stressful situations.
What sort of care providers should I choose?
There are so many options available, how do you know which is right for
your particular circumstances? Care at home, in a care or nursing home,
or sheltered accommodation?
By taking the time to understand your wishes and needs, your personal
time4care adviser will be able to clearly explain the benefits of each approach.
You will always have the final choice but we’ll provide independent advice so
you can be assured it’s the right one.
How do I know how much I can afford to pay for care?
Expert, independent advice is vital to keep the cost of care within your budget.
Whether paying yourself, receiving benefits or a mixture of the two, we can
advise on fair costs, assess how much they will be and guide you through the
possible sources of financial help. Your personal adviser will also help to ensure
you receive all the state benefits to which you are entitled.
What if our needs change?
We understand that the level of care needed can change due to personal
circumstances such as ill health. time4care will always be available whenever
you want help or advice for the next steps. The information provided by our
advisers will always be tailored to your requirements at the time you call us.
“My mother thought it was time
to move to a care home but...
I wasn’t sure how to proceed
or if I was helping her to make
the right decision.”

property funding
More than half of people who need to finance care have to sell their homes
to pay for it so maximising your capital and income is vital. Moving house
however is stressful; the practicalities are challenging enough but when
coupled with the emotional upheaval of saying goodbye, it’s easy to feel
overwhelmed. We offer a complete property sales management service that
helps you to sell quickly at the best possible price.
How does it work?
Your personal adviser will liaise with our property experts who will manage
the whole process for you - from initial marketing through to completion of
the sale. They will deal with surveyors, estate agents, solicitors and prospective
buyers on your behalf. You always remain in complete control of the price of
your property and decide whether to accept any offers made for it but we will
negotiate on your behalf.
Can you help me clear my home?
Auction appraisals for valuable items, removals and house clearance can all
be arranged. Should you need to move before the sale is completed, we can
ensure the property is insured and organise routine maintenance to keep it
neat and tidy.
We urgently need funds to pay for care, can you help?
If you have an immediate need to move into care and require capital from a
property to pay for it, we can advance funds. In consultation with you, and
your financial adviser, we can advance sale proceeds as a lump sum, for
example for a care fees annuity, or as monthly payments to a care provider.
“Knowledge of care homes and financial
and legal management can become
daunting for those with failing memory,
failing health and busy families. It would
have been just as difficult if we had
been half our age. We could have coped
– just not as expertly, we’re sure.”

financial advice
From pre-retirement planning to considering how to meet care fees, getting
the right financial advice from a specialist is vital to ensure you make the most
of your money. We only work with qualified advisers accredited to the Society
of Later Life Advisers (SOLLA). Not only do they understand the complexities of
financial needs in later life, but they have demonstrated expertise and integrity
in helping people to make clear and informed decisions.
What sort of advice can you offer?
We will provide you with access to independent advice tailored to your
circumstances. Our advisers can review your existing investments; help to
maximise the return on a final salary lump sum; offer guidance on pension
annuities; and guidance on the options available to fund care.
How soon should we think about planning our finances?
It’s never too soon to start putting plans in place to finance your retirement.
You can contact time4care for personal advice up to 5 years before you retire.
What are the options for funding care?
Your financial adviser will assess your individual circumstances and
requirements so that they can determine income levels, future care costs
and potential shortfalls.
Solutions may include the purchase of a Care Needs Annuity, investing for
capital growth, income generation or a combination of all elements.
“It was excellent knowing that
there was someone who was
an expert in care and 100%
reliable who I could trust to
get everything sorted out in
my aunt’s best interest.”

legal advice
To protect yourself, and those you care about, finding the right legal advice is
essential. Difficult choices such as what happens to your home or possessions
after your death and who will make decisions on your behalf if you are
suddenly unable to do so, all need to be considered. We work with Solicitors
for the Elderly, the UK association of solicitors, legal executives and barristers
who provide specialist advice for older, ill, infirm and disabled adults.
Are there any steps I can take now?
Making a Will is a simple yet important step to ensure your property and
possessions are distributed according to your wishes after your death.
Without one you cannot be sure that loved-ones will receive those items
you have allocated for them. You will receive advice and a Will that is drafted
to reduce the risk of a claim against your estate. Care will also be taken to
ensure that it is tax efficient.
You may be able to pass on some parts of your estate before you die and
we can advise on the benefits, risks and any financial implications.
What happens if I cannot make decisions myself?
A Power of Attorney enables others to make decisions on your behalf should
you be unable to do so. Different options are available depending on your
circumstances. You will be advised on which is most appropriate and it will
be written to meet your needs.
You can also make an advance decision setting out any medical treatment
you do not want to receive should you later be unable to communicate your
wishes. The document can be drafted and you will be advised on how it
applies in practice.
“My mother and I felt so much better
for having the chance to talk things
over with someone so experienced
and understanding. I am left knowing
that we have made the right choice
and it was my mother who was able
to make the final decision herself.”
