The second grade class will take a field trip on February 6th to Center Place for Fine Arts to see a performance of "Anansi and the Tree of Life", which ties into their recent unit on folktales from different cultures. Students should bring a snack and disposable lunch, and wear their Discovery Group t-shirt with regular uniform bottoms and shoes. The bus will leave at 9:30 AM and return around 1:30 PM, and parent chaperones should arrive by 9:30 AM.

1. Dear Families,
On Thursday February 6th the second grade will be traveling to Center Place for Fine Arts in
Brandon for a performance of “Anansi and the Tree of Life” as a culminating activity in our Tell
Me a Tale unit of study that focused on tales from cultures world-wide. Our classes have enjoyed
many tall tales, trickster tales, and porquoi tales and the children are excited to see a trickster tale
acted out in the theater. On the day of the trip, we ask that you:
 Please pack a snack and drink for your child to enjoy en route to the theater.
 Pack your child’s lunch in completely disposable containers if you do not participate in SAGE.
(SAGE lunches will be packed for us.)
 Label all snack/lunch bags with your child’s name and teacher’s name.
 If you do send a lunch for your child, please pack it separately from the snack bag. All
lunches will be stored in coolers on the bus.
Uniform:
 For girls: Discovery Group t-shirt over the daily jumper and regular uniform shoes.
 For boys: Discovery Group t-shirt with daily uniform bottoms and regular uniform shoes.
The bus will depart at 9:30 and return around 1:30. Chaperones are asked to be at school by
9:30 to board the bus. Please let us know if you have any questions!
