Message from the Management
Greetings to all readers of One Step Ahead.
Time keeps passing by. Without realizing
it, we have stepped into the end of 2021.
In a short time, we will welcome 2022, the
year full of hope and new spirit. Hopefully
the time we have lived up to now can be
a blessing for ourselves and the people
around us. Also hopefully, 2022 will be a
better year than the previous years.
The pandemic has not yet ended. However,
expectations for better and more favorable
circumstances must not fade. We must
believe that we can make it through these
difficult times by helping each other with
a sense of togetherness, which is already
strongly instilled within us.
This sense of togetherness is also firmly
held by Korindo Group in running business
activities and social contributions. We are
aware that the pandemic is a difficult thing
to handle without teamwork from various
parties. And it is an honor for us to be
involved in helping people in Indonesia to
face the pandemic.
I invite the big family of Korindo Group
to participate and take part in providing
solutions in these difficult times. We can
share many things with others. It is not
always about materials or things. We can
give prayers, encouragement, and moral
support to those in need.
Furthermore, I tirelessly remind us all
about the importance of health protocol.
Wearing masks, maintaining distance,
avoiding the crowd and regular hand
washing must be done to prevent a wider
spread of COVID-19 virus. This is not just
about us, but the people around us.
In this opportunity, I would also like to
ask the big family of Korindo Group not to
lose a sense of optimism. We must believe
that years full of challenges due to the
pandemic will soon pass, and be replaced
with a year full of opportunities. Make the
experience during this pandemic a valuable
lesson for us to step into the future with
better achievements.
This optimism can be formed through
careful planning. Innovation, hard work,
and cooperation between teams and cross-
division are also important elements in it. It
is not easy, but I believe we can achieve it.
I believe every individual in Korindo Group
can take part in teamwork and build
dreamwork to reach the best achievement.
Until eventually, Korindo Group can
provide a bigger contribution to the people
and the nation of Indonesia.
Korindo Group family must always be
energetic, creative, open-minded, and
innovative for continuous improvement.
Because strong human resources (HR) are
the company’s assets to build a company
that is developed and able to adapt to any
changes.
Lastly, as one big family of Korindo Group, I
hope we can continue to prepare ourselves
and actively participate in achieving a
brighter future. I also pray that we can do
the best for ourselves, our families, and the
company.
I hope the pandemic will soon be over and
the world can recover. I also hope these
last moments of 2021 can be a time for us
to be more productive. I wish good health
for us all.

Management Message
Editorial Message
Greetings to One Step Ahead readers,
We have stepped into the fourth quarter of 2021. Although the pandemic has not yet
ended, Korindo Group’s desire to provide social contribution for the sake of the welfare
of the Indonesian people never fades away. This positive energy is what we tried to
summarize in the 8th edition of One Step Ahead magazine.
The social contribution efforts that we refer to as Corporate Social Contribution (CSC) also
involves many parties. Especially together with the local government as policy makers in
the company’s operational area. This synergy is what makes Korindo Group always able to
consistently contribute to the development of Indonesia.
One of our CSC activities that we highlighted in the 8th edition of the magazine is the
development of Pondok Rajeg City Forest, Bogor Regency. Not only for the environmental
preservation, this program also seeks to achieve the goal of community empowerment.
This large-scale greening program is the second program carried out by Korindo Group in
Bogor Regency. Previously, in 2019, Korindo Group through Korindo Foundation had built
and managed the Pakansari City Forest.
A hydroponic mentorship program was also continued and developed more massively.
This time, Korindo Foundation teamed up with a farmers group in the company area to
develop urban farming in the new normal era.
Consistency in running a program with a similar theme, yet in a more massive scale, is
proof that Korindo Group implemented the principle of sustainability.
The principle of sustainability that has been implemented so far was recognized and
received appreciation from various stakeholders. Including the local government, which is
the external stakeholder of Korindo Group.
In this 8th edition of One Step Ahead Magazine, we also discuss the latest program
from Korindo Foundation, namely Korindo Green Sponsorship 2021. In this program,
Korindo Foundation provided relief fund assistance of up to Rp 30 million to two selected
organizations for a two-year period of program.
As a closing remark, we would like to encourage the big family of Korindo Group to care
about each other during the difficult times due to the pandemic.
Furthermore, we tirelessly ask you, the readers, to innovate. The COVID-19 pandemic has
driven Indonesia to change through new ways and we are forced to leave our old habits
that aren’t relevant and go beyond impossibilities.
We hope the contents we presented in this 2021’s 8th edition of One Step Ahead
Magazine can be beneficial for you. Happy reading.

Editorial Message
JAKARTA – Since its dedication in Indonesia
in 1969, Korindo Group always strives to
be a company that is driven by a good
purpose. The purpose is simple yet clear,
which is to help create a better Indonesia.
In addition to products and business
activities, Korindo strives to achieve these
goals through social responsibility, which is
branded as Corporate Social Contribution
(CSC).
In general, Korindo Group CSC holds onto
five pillars, namely education, health,
economy, environment, and infrastructure.
Through these pillars, Korindo has a strong
desire to be a part of the solution to
sustainable development in Indonesia.
With CSC pillars as guidance, we
implement social contribution programs
in various forms of activities. All of which
have one purpose; to provide long-term
benefits for society and the environment.
The Chairman of Korindo Group Robert
Seung, who also serves as the Chief
Executive of Korindo Foundation said
that Korindo’s social responsibility is only
a small part of what it takes to create a
better Indonesia.
“However, we keep striving to be the
catalyst of change. We believe that by
sharing, life will be more meaningful,” said
Robert.
Korindo always seeks to conduct CSC
programs that are on target. This can be
achieved through collaborations between
the headquarters, business units that are
spread in various regions of Indonesia,
and Korindo Foundation as a division
that specifically handles Korindo’s social
responsibility programs.
This synergy also ensures that the impact
of Korindo’s CSC programs can reach out
to more communities in Indonesia. In
accordance with our principle, wherever
Korindo’s business unit is located, it must
provide benefits and inspiration for the
surrounding environment.
Korindo also often provides situational
assistance, including assistance to
people affected by disasters. One of the
assistances is food aid to the people
affected by flood in North Arut District and
South Arut District, West Kotawaringin,
Central Kalimantan, in August last year.
An intensive support was also given
by Korindo to people affected by the
COVID-19 pandemic. Assistance was
provided in various forms, from medical
equipment for health workers, provision of
vitamins and masks to the community, to
scholarships for affected students.
Robert described that the series of actions
carried out by Korindo is a form of concern
toward others and appreciation for the
devotion and dedication of the medical
workers in facing the pandemic. “This is
what we can contribute from Korindo for
Indonesia,” he said.
Five Pillars of CSC for the Community
After five decades of dedication in
Indonesia, Korindo has now become the
leading company in various industries
in the markets of Asia, the Middle East,
United States, and Europe. Korindo’s

In carrying out its social contribution, Korindo Group set 5 pillars, namely Education,
Health, Economy, Environment, dan Infrastructure.

success is not only determined by
the management and operational
performance. The support from the
community is also a major factor in the
company’s achievement.
In Korindo’s point of view, community is
not only defined as people living near the
company’s areas. Moreover, the ones who
are continuously involved in the company’s
business and social activities are also a part
of the community according to Korindo.
In this context, Korindo has a commitment
to improve the harmonious and mutually
beneficial relationship with the community
through CSC. Korindo has also directed
so that the entire CSC program will be
able to provide positive impacts for life,
the community’s mindset, as well as
environmental sustainability.
In creating every CSC activity, Korindo sets
sustainable development as orientation, a
way of thinking, and guidance, which is still
based on the five pillars.
The quality of Human Resources (HR) is
one of the keys to success in sustainable
development. From this understanding,
Korindo consistently provides assistances
in the field of education, including
scholarships.
Some of the programs that are regularly
held is Yonsei University Exchange
Program, an exchange between Indonesian
student with student from Yonsei
University, South Korea. Korindo also
often provides funding assistance to high-
achieving children of employees.
Korindo’s attention is not only intended
for high level education. A few years ago,
Korindo also donated educational games
for the Early Childhood Education (PAUD)
level in Pancoran area, South Jakarta.
Korindo realized that the quality of
education in Indonesia can not be
separated from the role of teachers.
Therefore, through a number of CSC
programs, Korindo also provides support
to educators who have a real dedication
for the development of education in
Indonesia.
The next pillar is the pillar of health.
Consistently, Korindo Group emphasizes
the importance of equitable access to
health in the CSC program. This attention
was addressed in the form of construction
of health clinics in several operational
areas of Korindo’s business units that can
be utilized by the local residents.
Through these clinics, Korindo provides
treatment at an affordable price, with

some of them are even provided for
free. On the other hand, various health
campaigns are also regularly carried
out, including health counseling for
children, young mothers, pregnant and
breastfeeding women.
Several Korindo’s business units have
shown their consistency to contribute
towards toddlers’ health. For instance,
Korindo’s Paper Products Division that
provides additional nutritious food
(Supplementary feeding/PMT) on a regular
basis to hundreds of toddlers in a number
of integrated health posts (Posyandu). In
its implementation, the Paper Products
Division teamed up with health activists in
Bogor, which is the company’s location.
Mobile posyandu activity is also a part of
Paper Products Division’s CSC in health.
The program, which is being carried out
often, is proof of the company’s concern
for the health of the community around
the operational area.
Korindo aspires to be a company
that is able to provide benefits to the
local economic development and the
surrounding communities. To realize this
desire, Korindo regularly carries out CSC
programs in the pillar of economy that
encourages economic independence to
improve the community’s welfare.
Productive business assistances in the
form of financing and equipment are often
provided. Among them are for fish and
poultry livestock business to cultivation of
vegetable crops and hydroponics.
At the same time, Korindo is commited to
conduct a mentoring program. This activity
is intended to help the community’s
business to be able to produce the best
results that last long term.
The productive and direct business
assistance is expected to increase the
income of every family and improve local
economic growth. The end result is a
sustainable social welfare that can be felt
by many parties.
Through the pillar of environment,
Korindo strives to help the community
and environment to receive added value
from the company’s presence. Various real
actions have proved that commitment,
from regular environmental clean-up,
education on protected flora and fauna, to

the conversion of nonproductive land into
an open green space.
Korindo also collaborated with various
stakeholders for the success of the CSC
program. One of them is Bogor Regency
Government in the green collaboration
activity, which has started since 2019
through the development of the Pakansari
City Forest. In 2021, a collaboration was
held once again in the development of
Pondok Rajeg City Forest.
Not only for environment preservation,
greening activities conducted by Korindo
were also carried out with the aim
of community empowerment. This is
achieved through community involvement
in the development preparation and
maintenance of Pakansari City Forest and
Pondok Rajeg City Forest.
The last pillar is infrastructure. One of the
important priorities in Korindo’s CSC is the
infrastructure development for the public
benefit. This focus was delivered in the
form of assistance for the construction and
development of infrastructures such as the
repair of roads and bridges.
Land grants are also a part of CSC in the
pillar of infrastructure. This program
is conducted by the Timber Plantation
Division in the form of a land area of 10.2
hectares (ha) which was handed over
voluntarily to the West Kotawaringin
Regency Government, Central Kalimantan.
This land was utilized by the government
to build people’s market with the go green
concept.
Sustainability in Business Activities
The principle of sustainability is not
only strongly held by Korindo in the CSC
activities. In running its business lines,
Korindo continues to take part in topic
of sustainability, for national and global
scales.
One of the topics that are included in
Korindo’s priority is environmentally
friendly development, such as low carbon
development which is projected as the
new drive for the economy. In addition to
high oil prices, this perspective can not be
separated from issues of environmental
damage and degradation.
Korindo seeks to take part in the topic
through a commitment to sustainable
forest management. Korindo’s Forestry
Division optimizes wood production with
high quality that can be utilized for a wide
range of products, including paper and
plywood.
Meanwhile, the Paper Products Division
produces newsprint and paper-based
products made from recycled paper.
Korindo is known as one of the market
leaders in this sector.
On the other hand, Korindo’s Oil Palm
Division develops its function in continuous
and sustainable manner by applying
efficient management practices and
procedures.
A commitment to creating a sustainable
development is also implemented by
Korindo through the development of wind
power as a part of renewable energy. Our
wind tower company was founded four
decades ago and has obtained ISO 9001
certification after going through a rigorous
international quality and compliance test
to produce high-quality goods while always
providing timely service. (pr)

WEST KOTAWARINGIN– Central Kalimantan
(Kalteng) Province had experienced oxygen
crisis for treating COVID-19 patients. As
quoted from Media Indonesia on Tuesday
(27/7), oxygen supply at hospitals in
Central Kalimantan was only enough for
seven days. The regional government was
trying hard to find extra supply of oxygen,
both from the central government and
private companies located in the area.
The oxygen crisis occurred along with
a significant increase in the number of
COVID-19 patients, yet it was not followed
with sufficient supply of oxygen. The supply
was increasingly limited considering that
the average oxygen needs for COVID-19
patients is much higher than the one for
patients with typical diseases.
“While patients with typical diseases
need an average of 4-5 liters of oxygen
per minute, COVID-19 patients need as
much as 48 liters per minute,” the Head of
Central Kalimantan Health Service, Suyuti
Syamsul explained.
At that time, the demand for oxygen was
estimated to increase up to three times
compare to the usual need. Health facilities
even borrowed from each other in order
to meet the demand. Hospitals that owned
a lot of oxygen supply lent some to other
hospitals experiencing an oxygen crisis.
When that supply was met or additional
supply oxygen was available, the oxygen
supply would be returned.
Various efforts were made by the Central
Kalimantan Provincial Government.
One of them was writing to the central
government to help with the oxygen
supply, especially for regencies with
only one hospital available. The regional
government also contacted all oxygen
distributors all over Central Kalimantan
to increase production and ensure an
effective distribution.
Efforts to find more oxygen supply were
also aggressively carried out by hospitals.
Quoted from a local media, Pro Kalteng
on Wednesday (28/7), Dr. Doris Sylvanus
Hospital (RSDS) Palangka Raya continued its
coordination with liquid oxygen distributors
that once reduced their supplies due to
being overwhelmed.
This critical condition prompted PT Korindo
Ariabima Sari (KABS) to restart its oxygen

generator. As a company operating in
Central Kalimantan, West Kotawaringin,
KABS has a moral responsibility to join the
effort in solving the regional problems by
trying to meet the oxygen needs.
For three months, from July to September
2021, KABS produced oxygen meant for
the handling of COVID-19 pandemic in
Central Kalimantan. The donation was
handed over to the West Kotawaringin
Regency Government to be distributed to
West Kotawaringin as well as other regions
in Central Kalimantan.
This collaboration was written as an
agreement in the form of memorandum of
understanding (MoU) signed at the West
Kotawaringin Regency Office on Tuesday
(3/8), which was attended in person by the
Regent of West Kotawaringin, Nurhidayah
and the Director of KABS, Lim Young Taek.
The oxygen produced by KABS was
estimated to be able to fill 70 to 80
oxygen tanks per day. “Hopefully with this
donation, the oxygen shortage could be
resolved,” said the General Manager of
KABS, Rahmad Effendi, on behalf of Lim.
Since the last three years, oxygen
generator owned by KABS had no longer
been in operation. However, the West
Kowaringin Regency Government and
other related parties has ensured that the
machine can function properly after being
checked and received an operation-worthy
certificate.
Within the first two days, KABS’ oxygen
production was estimated to reach
900 large-sized tanks. The tanks were
immediately distributed to hospitals and
treatment facilities in West Kotawaringin as
well as other areas in Central Kalimantan ,
namely Lamandau, Kapuas, and Palangka
Raya City.
KABS handed over all of the technical
process and distribution arrangement of
the oxygen to the local government so it
would have a ‘one-door’ policy so as not to
cause confusion for the public. “Our task is
merely to carry out the production,” said
Rahmad, quoted by Kalteng Online, Sunday
(25/7).
Korindo Group’s concern during the
COVID-19 pandemic was shown through
various programs. In addition to assisting
with the oxygen production while on
shortage, Korindo Group through its
business units provided direct assistance in
the form of medical equipment supply.
In July, PT Dongbang Development
(Dongbang), a business unit in the real
estate sector, distributed vitamins and
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the
community in Pancoran through the urban
village office. Previously, Korindo Group
also distributed hundreds of thousands
of surgical masks and Personal Protective
Equipment (PPE) to medical workers in
Papua.
The series of assistance provided is
expected to be able to ease the burden
of the community, the local governments,
and medial workers in facing these
difficult times. As a company with more
than five decades of dedication in
Indonesia, Korindo Group will continue its
contributions in easing the burden.(pr)

JAKARTA– A number of Korindo Group’s
Corporate Social Contribution (CSC)
programs received a positive attention
from various parties, including the
government. At both central and regional
levels, the government often appreciates
Korindo’s contributions, which includes
infrastructure and environment sectors.
The latest appreciation was expressed
by the Regency Government of West
Kotawaringin, Central Kalimantan,
for the oxygen donation provided by
Korindo through PT Korindo Ariabima
Sari (KABS). The company allocated the
oxygen it produced to community in West
Kotawaringin and other regions in Central
Kalimantan.
Regent Nurhidayah described that the
West Kotawaringin region was experiencing
an oxygen shortage so that an assistance
from KABS would have significant impact.
“I express my gratitude and appreciation to
the management of PT Korindo Ariabima
Sari for helping in oxygen production,” she
said during the cooperation agreement on
Tuesday (3/8).
Nurhidayah said that her team alongside
the Central Kalimantan Provincial
Government had carried out a feasibility
test on oxygen production in KABS and
the results had met the criteria. The
cooperation of oxygen distribution will run
from July to September 2021.
Previously, praises were also given to PT
Korintiga Hutani (KTH), a Korindo Group’s
business unit specialized in forestry
sector in Central Kalimantan. The West
Kotawaringin Regency Government
expressed its appreciation for the
construction of a connecting road between
Nanga Mua Village and Pangkut Urban
Village. The construction was a consortium
carried out by KTH to facilitate the traffic of
people and goods.
Another appreciation came from the
DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.
They considered that the assistance and
guidance on the catfish cultivation one
developed by Korindo in South Jakarta area
by involving the elderly gave a positive and
massive impact. Especially in providing
a platform for the elderly to carry out
productive activities.
Two years ago, Korindo through Korindo
Foundation even received an award
from the Padmamitra+ Awards for the
urban farming program in Pengadegan,
South Jakarta. At the awarding, Korindo
Foundation received an award in the
category ‘Social Programs that Deliver
Sustainable Impact’.
Padmamitra+ Awards are given to
companies that have taken part in
developing Jakarta through Corporate
Social Responsibility (CSR) activities. The
award was handed over in person by the
Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan.
“Together with the DKI Jakarta CSR Forum,
we will continue to collaborate and
synergize so Jakarta can progress as a city
and bring happiness to its citizens,” he said
at the time.
Appreciation also came from Bogor.
The Bogor Regency Government gave an
award certificate to Korindo Foundation as
an organizer of social and environmental
responsibility that has played a role in
the development in Bogor Regency in the
2019-2020 period.
The charter was given for the development
program of Pakansari City Forest, Cibinong.
On top of a two hectare (ha) land, Korindo
revamped an unused empty area into
a lush open green space planted with
Eucalyptus deglupta trees.
In collaboration with Bogor Regency
Government, Korindo started to build and
manage the Pakansari City Forest in 2019.
In 2022, Korindo will fully hand it over
to the local government to be used as a
place for recreation or sports for the local
community.
Despite the series of appreciation and
praises it has received, Korindo will not
stop providing social contributions. “This
achievement actually brought enthusiasm
for us to be more active, aggressive, and
expansive in implementing CSC which has
a more significant impact on many parties,”
said Seo Jeong Sik, General Secretary of
Korindo Foundation.
One of the follow-up actions is the
development plan of urban forest on the
former Landfill of Pondok Rajeg, Bogor.
At the moment, Korindo’s Afforestation
Division is conducting a feasibility test to
ensure the suitability of plants that will be
planted with the land characteristics.
Korindo’s commitment to contribute to
people, environment, and the government
through CSC has been carried out for more
than 50 years of the company’s economic
activities in Indonesia. This program
addresses five pillars, namely education,
health, environment, infrastructure, and

JAKARTA –Since March 2020, COVID-19 has
hit various countries, including Indonesia.
According to the data on Covid19.go.id,
up untillast August, more than 4 million
positive cases were recorded in Indonesia
with 3.7 million of them having recovered.
Around 130,000 people have died fighting
the virus.
Numerous efforts have been made by
the government and stakeholders to
suppress the spread of the virus, including
implementing a policy of restricting
activities in crowd places. As a result,
the economic wheels of a number of
community groups have stalled.
As part of an industry that has long been
operating in Indonesia, Korindo Group
wanted to take part in the issue. Through
various Corporate Social Contribution
(CSC) programs, Korindo Group helped the
community to adapt during the COVID-19
pandemic.
One of the activities carried out is
the development of urban farming.
This program was initiated by Korindo
Foundation, a division specifically handles
Korindo Group’s social responsibility
programs, alongside the Arpati Farmers
Group of RT 08/001, Pengadegan Urban
Village, Pancoran, South Jakarta.
Korindo Foundation also teamed-up with
Saparno, a resident of Pengadegan who
had previously been active in hydroponic
activities, as a mentor for Arpati Farmers
Group. Six years ago, Korindo Foundation
sent Saparno to attend a training on
hydroponic at the Bogor Agricultural
Institute (IPB).
The first urban farming program began in
March 2021 by building hydroponic and
aquaponicsinstallations with a capacity of
200 plant hydroponic plant holes and 1,000
freshwater fish. Two months after, Arpati
Farmers Groups had already harvested five
kilograms (kg) of bok choy and kale plants
as well as hundreds of catfish.
General Secretary of Korindo Foundation,
Seo Jeongsik said that the development
of urban farming on the Ciliwung
riverbank could be an example of
reforestation activities as well as economic
empowerment for the community. This
activity tends to be easy to do with results
that can help meet the community food
needs and drive the wheels of economy.
“This can be a part of urban
farming development program
in the current new normal era,”
Seo Jeongsik said.
Efforts to encourage the community’s
economic independence during the
pandemic are also carried out through
a partnership program called Korindo
Green Sponsorship 2021. This program
is being run for the first time by Korindo
Foundation with the aim of supporting
development, including Micro, Small, and
Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Greater
Jakarta area (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok,
Tangerang, and Bekasi).
Through the program, Korindo Foundation
provides an assistance fund of a
maximum Rp 30 million for two selected
organizations for two years. Kajang Mandiri
Sejahtera and Komunitas Peduli Yatim dan
Dhuafa are the two organizations that
managed to pass the selection process.
The two selected organizations are both
developing catfish farms. Mandiri Sejahtera
prioritizes its harvest for the welfare of the
local community. Meanwhile, Komunitas
Peduli Yatim dan Dhuafa shares some of its
harvest to orphans and the poor.
The Manager of Korindo Foundation,
Setiyono said explained that Korindo
Green Sponsorship 2021 emphasizes
the sustainability aspect in accordance
with Korindo Group’s CSC values. This
program is not merely ceremonial, but
instead considers the long-term impact
on the community and the surrounding
environment. “Therefore, we also provide
assistance,” he concluded.
Korindo Group’s contribution in handling
the COVID-19 pandemic has often been
done since last year. Various donations of
medical equipment have been distributed
to many different regions in line with the
community empowerment program (pr)

preservation is one of the pillars
of Korindo Group in conducting
its Corporate Social Contribution
(CSC) programs. Through various
sustainable initiatives, Korindo
hopes that the community and
the environment will receive
added-value from the company’s
existence.
Greening activity is the main program
carried out within the field of the
environment in CSC. From the
development of hydroponics in community
scale to the development of urban
forest, all were conducted to achieve the
purpose of environment preservation and
community empowerment.
After initiating a hydroponic cultivation
program in a narrow alley in Rawajati
Urban Village, Pancoran, South Jakarta,
which was started four years ago and still
ongoing until today, Korindo held a similar
program once again. In March 2021, the
company initiated an urban farming activity
in Pengadegan Urban Village, Pancoran, by
teaming up with Arpati RT 08/001 Farmers
Group.
In its new program, Korindo developed
hydroponics and aquaponics at the
Ciliwung Riverside. Two months passed,
the urban farming has brought results.
At least five kilograms of bok choy and
kale plants as well as dozens of catfish
have been harvested at the early stage of
the program. Most of the harvest is sold
directly to the local community, while the
rest is consumed with families.
A greening activity in a larger scale was also
carried out by Korindo by developing an
urban forest in Bogor Regency, West Java.
Exactly on the former landfill of Pondok
Rajeg, Cibinong, Korindo Foundation
with the Bogor Regency Government will
develop an open green space of seven
hectares (ha).
In June 2021, Afforestation Division of
Korindo Group has started to conduct a
feasibility study in the area. About two
months afterward, or in early September,
Korindo together with Bogor Regency
conducted a land clearing process on an
area of 2,700 square meters to be used as
a trial area.
When the land clearing process is finished,
the area will be planted with sengon and
trembesi trees. The trial planting activity
is expected to last for one year, which will
end in September 2022.
The development of Pondok Rajeg City
Forest is not only proof of Korindo’s
commitment in environment preservation.
This program also illustrates the
company’s efforts in empowering the local
community.
At least six local citizens were happily
involved in the land clearing activity,
including Abdurahman (65 years old).

involvement of the community is proof of
sustainability that Korindo Group is trying
achieve in each CSC program. “We don’t
want to carry out a social responsibility
that is only ceremonial, but a social
responsibility that provides wide and long
term benefits,” he said.
Greening activities are also actively
being carried out by business units of
Korindo Group. One of them is PT Aspex
Kumbong that is carrying out integrated
greening activity or land rehabilitation of
nonproductive land into productive land
to be utilized as greening zone and fruit
trees cultivation area. The program, known
as Green Corner was carried out on an
open land near company area in Cileungsi,
Bogor.
Outside Java Island, PT Korintiga Hutani
planted 1,000 trees in Sungai Pulau Village,
West Kotawaringin, Central Kalimantan.
There seeds are expected to grow lush
and become water infiltration around
the village water reservoir, so it would be
beneficial to the local community and local
biodiversity.
In the future, Seo said, Korindo will
continue to innovate in carrying out CSC
activities in the field of the environment.
“We ensure to contribute to the
environment preservation for the sake of
providing benefits to the environment itself
and the local community,” he said. (pr)
unemployed before, and now I have work.
Hopefully this will keep going on,” said the
Pondok Rajeg native.
Pondok Rajeg City Forest is the second
open green space developed by Korindo
in collaboration with Bogor Regency.
Previously, in 2019, Korindo Foundation
has developed Pakansari City Forest,
which is located in the Pakansari Stadium,
Cibinong.
To date, Korindo is still responsible for
the management of the urban forest
by involving the local community. The
responsibility will be handed over to Bogor
Regency in November 2022 to be used as a
place of recreation or open green space by
the surrounding community.
The General Secretary of Korindo
Foundation Seo Jeongsik said that the

City Forest, a
Synergy of Bogor
Regency Govt.
and Korindo for
the Environment
BOGOR – Bogor Regency Government
and Korindo Group once again formed
a synergy to preserve the environment
through the development of an urban
forest. After successfully converting a
vacant land into green open space in
Pakansari, Cibinong, now both parties
carried out an attempt to revamp the
former landfill of Pondok Rajeg, Cibinong,
Bogor, West Java.
A collaboration between Bogor Regency
Government and Korindo stems from a
strong commitment to build a green area
that is beneficial for the wider community.
An urban forest will not only provide an
added value from the aesthetic side, but
also functions as an air purifier, ensures
the availability of ground water, protects
against the heat of the sun and acts as a
habitat for animals in the city.
Those benefits has now began to be felt
in Pakansari City Forest. The two hectare
(ha) open green space near the Pakansari
Stadium is now covered with Eucalyptus
deglupta. The shady tree cover creates a
cool and comfortable atmosphere to rest.
The Pakansari City Forest has entered its
second year. Korindo Foundation has also
been handling the management for the
same period of time. Next year, around
November 2022, Korindo Foundation will
officially hand over Pakansari City Forest
to the Bogor Regency Government to be
used as a place of recreation for the local
community.
Korindo keeps showing its commitment
in a tireless and continuous manner. Two
years after the inauguration of Pakansari
City Forest, Korindo together with Bogor
Regency Government held a collaboration
to build a Pondok Rajeg City Forest.
2020 is the year when Korindo began its
involvement in the development of Pondok
Rajeg City Forest. At that time, Korindo
Foundation sent a Letter of Interest (LoI) to
the Bogor Regency Government regarding
the company’s interest in supporting the
development of urban forest.
After going through a number of
discussions, the two parties started the
preparation stage. In June 2021, the
Afforestation Division of Korindo Group
together with the Regional Development
Planning Agency Research and
Development (Bappedalitbang) as well as
the Environmental Service Office (DLH) of
Bogor Regency conducted a land survey.
In the survey, as many as three plots sized
30 meters x 30 meters were created for
the trial area. Each plot is covered with 100
trembesi and sengon trees. A feasibility
study needed to be done in advance given
the land characteristics in the former
landfill of Pondok Rajeg tend to be soft, as
opposed to the one in Pakansari City Forest
or the other open green space areas built
by Korindo.
In mid-September, on Monday (13/9),
Korindo Foundation and Bogor Regency
Government inaugurated the trial
planting of Pondok Rajeg City Forest
through the signing of a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU). This signing process
was held in the Office of Bappedalitbang of
Bogor Regency.
The trial activity started on Monday (25/9)
followed by intensive monitoring. The
process is targeted to run for a year and
will end in September 2022. When the trial
process is finished, both parties will enter
into the next stage, namely the signing of
the MoU for the official planting stage.

The General Secretary of Korindo
Foundation Seo Jeongsik hoped that the
trial process can run smoothly and show
good results so that the development
process can be continued on the entire
land. “Therefore, the existence of
Pondok Rajeg City Forest will be able to
immediately provide benefits to the entire
community,” he said while giving a speech
at the inauguration of the trial planting of
Pondok Rajeg City Forest.
Bogor Regency Government through the
Head of the Environmental Service Office,
Asnan expressed his deepest appreciation
and gratitude to Korindo Foundation for
actively contributing to the development of
Bogor Regency.
“Hopefully all stages will run smoothly so
that Pondok Rajeg City Forest can provide
optimal benefits for the community in
order to create a comfortable Bogor
Regency,” he said on behalf of the Bogor
Regent Ade Yasin, who was unable to
attend the event.
Asnan mentioned that the green
collaboration carried out by Korindo
has helped realize Bogor Regency
Government’s commitment to set up a
number of Open Green Spaces (RTH) in
Bogor Regency. In the future, he hopes that
Korindo can continue to participate and
create a synergy in various development
program from the local government,
especially in greening activities.
Urban Forest for the Community
In building an urban forest, Korindo Group
does not only consider the benefits to the
environment. On the other hand, Korindo
also takes concern about its impacts
on the local community. Therefore, the
empowerment of the local community is
something that must be done.
While managing Pakansari City Forest,
Korindo invited the local community to
participate in its maintenance. They are
involved in the clean-up activity of wild
plants, cutting of the lower limbs, to the
provision of fertilizers.
Korindo also provides flexibility to the
community to utilize the weeds in the back
area of Pakansari City Forest as livestock
feed.
“This is proof of our efforts to always
provide a positive and optimal impact for
the local community in each of our CSC
activity,” said Seo Jeongsik.
Korindo’s participation in the development
and management of Pakansari City
Forest received an appreciation from
the Bogor Regency Government. This
appreciation was given in the form of an
award certificate for Korindo Foundation
as an agent for social and environmental
responsibility, which has been instrumental
in the development in Bogor Regency
within the period of 2019-2020
As has been previously done in Pakansari
City Forest, Korindo once again
empowered the local community in the
development of Pondok Rajeg City Forest,
Bogor. Six local residents were involved in
the land clearing activity for a trial area.
They cut down the banana plants that
previously covered the area. The banana
stems are used as a border of the trial
area.
Korindo’s commitment is in line with
Bogor Regency’s wish. The Head of Pondok
Rajeg Village Suhendi ensured that the
local residents would be involved in the
development and management process of
Pondok Rajeg City Forest in the future.
This involvement is expected to help
the community who are looking for an
additional income during the pandemic.
Especially those who have been receiving
income from utilizing banana plants in the
area of Pondok Rajeg former landfill.
“With this urban forest, they (re: the
cultivating community) hoped to be
empowered and we will facilitate that,”
said Suhendi. (pr)

Pakansari City Forest Brings Many
Benefits Ahead of Its Second Year
BOGOR – Pakansari City Forest, Bogor
has started to bring many benefits to the
surrounding community, from economic to
environmental aspects. This green space is
part of the Corporate Social Contribution
(CSC) programs from Korindo Foundation
in collaboration with Bogor Regency
Government.
One of the benefits that was felt is the
empowerment of the local community. In
managing Pakansari City Forest, Korindo
Foundation invited several residents to
take part in its maintenance. They were
involved in fertilization, cutting of lower
branches, and controlling of weeds that
have the potential to interfere with the
tree growth.
Hendrik (52 years old), one of the
residents empowered by Korindo, said
that he was happy to be involved in
managing Pakansari City Forest. In addition
to providing help in terms of income,
this activity is a meansto participate in
environmental preservation in his living
area.
“I am happy to be able to help here,” said
Hendrik, who regularly visits the urban
forest to check the condition of the tree
growth.
In the future, Hendrik hopes that the green
space located in front of the Pakansari
Stadium can be more lush so that it
can provide many benefits for the local
community.
In Pakansari City Forest, only one type
of tree is planted, namely Eucalyptus
deglupta. The planting process began in
2019 on an area of 2 hectares (ha). As of
February 2021, more than 1,800 trees have
been planted.
General Secretary of Korindo Foundation,
Seo Jeong Sik stated that Pakansari City
Forest is a fruit of commitment from
Korindo Foundation to participate in
preserving the environment while also
empowering the local community.
He explained that since the beginning
the management of the urban forest has
been carried out together with the local
community while still being supervised
by Korindo Foundation. “We invited
several residents to take care of the place
together,” he said.
With this intensive management,
Eucalyptus deglupta trees have grown
lush in Pakansari City Forest. Especially the
trees planted for the first time in the front
area of the urban forest.
In fact, the growth of several trunks of
trees, which are known as the rainbow
trees, has passed the target. SeoJeongSik
estimated that currently, the height of
several trees has reached seven meters,
The condition of Pakansari City Forest, which has been in operation for
almost two years.

exceeding the expectation and target set
by Korindo Foundation.
“We targeted that the growth of these
trees would be five meters in one year,
but many area already taller than that,” he
said.
In addition to optimal management, many
environmental factors help trees to grow
lush such as sunlight and rain intensity.
The benefits that are now starting to
be felt by many are the use of weeds as
animal feed. At the back part of Pakansari
City Forest, there is an area that is difficult
to absorb water, or known as wet area.
When the rain falls, water often pools
around the trees, causing weeds to grow
quickly.
Despite the risk of damaging tree growth,
Korindo Foundation still conducts selective
control on weeds. This is done so the
surrounding community can utilize is for
animal feed. “People who own goats or
cows can cut the grass here to feed their
livestock,” he explained.
He continued by saying that there are
many potential benefits that can be
created from the existence of Pakansari
City Forest. For example, when the trees
have grown more lush, the area can
become a location for water absorption.
This is because Eucalyptus deglupta has
the characteristics of roots that are able to
absorb large amount of water.
On the other hand, Pakansari City Forest
can be used as a recreational area for the
surrounding community. The leafy canopy
of Eucalyptus deglupta allows the visitors
to do exercise or just relax under it. The
color of the trunk shows colorful streaks,
which add a visual sense of comfort.
Korindo Foundation will hand over the
urban forest management to the Bogor
Regency Government in November 2022.
“So we are managing it for three years
(2019-2021) and will hand it over to the
regency government in November 2022,”
he concluded. (pr)
Pakansari City Forest is
a fruit of commitment
from Korindo Foundation
to participate in
preserving the

Korindo Requires
All Employees to
Be Vaccinated
JAKARTA – Starting on August 10, 2021,
the management of Korindo Group
headquarters in Jakarta requires all
employees to be vaccinated with at least
one dose. This policy is mainly prioritized
for those who are required to come to the
office or Work from Office (WFO).
“Employees who work from the office
(WFO) must be vaccinated against
COVID-19, with at least 1 (one) dose,”
as stated on the HR circular letter dated
August 10, 2021.
The vaccination requirement is enforced in
all business units of Korindo Group. “This
aims to help the government program in
accelerating vaccination in order to achieve
herd immunity,” said Vice President
Director of Human Resources Development
& General Affairs (HR & GA) of Korindo
Group Seo Jeongsik.
Korindo Group imposes other rules for
employees who cannot be vaccinated
yet due to medical issues and are being
treated by a doctor. They are required
to make a statement letter with the
attachment of the doctor’s letter.
In addition, for employees who cannot
be vaccinated yet due to recovery from
COVID-19 and has not yet reached three
months, the management asks them to
always keep the positive and negative PCR/
antigen test results issued by the doctor.
Korindo Group also requires employees
who work at the headquarters in the
Pancoran area, South Jakarta to use
the PeduliLindungi app on their mobile
phones. This app allows the government to
monitor and detect movements of people
who are exposed to COVID-19 from the
past 14 days. This will make it easy for
the government to identify and detect
the community through the tracking of
location data and information in digital
manner.
Up until this news, Korindo Group
headquarters still imposes the Work from
Home (WFH) policy. This policy is taken
along with the decision of the central
government that still applies Imposition of
Community Activities Restrictions (PPKM)
Level Three.
If in the future, there are tasks that cannot
be performed at home, employees can
carry out the tasks at the office. However,
they must obtain permission from their
respective division head with maintaining
the limit of number of workers in every
office space in accordance with the
applicable government regulations. The
implementation of the health protocol
should also be applied in a disciplined
manner.
Seo emphasized to all employees of
Korindo Group to maintain productivity
while implementing a clean and healthy
lifestyle during working from home. “I
also hope that we are all healthy and safe
wherever we are,” he said.
Vaccination Support
Korindo Group’s efforts to promote
a successful vaccination program are
not only shown through the vaccine
requirement regulations for all employees.
On the other hand, Korindo Group through
its business units also provides vaccination
facilities for the workers.
One of which is PT Bimaruna Jaya by
collaborating with DKI Jakarta Health
Service and HarapanJayakarta Hospital.
This Korindo Group’s business unit that
operates in the logistics sector has been
conducting a vaccination program for the
employees since July.
Meanwhile, Korindo Group’s business
unit specialized in renewable energy,
PT Kenertec Power System (KPS) also
conducted similar activity. By teaming
up with the community health center

held an independent vaccination to
all employees at the company in mid-

Participate in
Online NEO
JAKARTA– Korindo Group once again held
a company introductionsession for new
employees or what is often called New
Employee Orientation (NEO). As many
as 31employees from various divisions
participated in the two-day event, which
was held on Wednesday (21/4) and
Thursday (22/4).
As part of Korindo Group’s compliance with
the government policies on prevention of
the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), NEO
was held online. This is the second NEO
that was held online.
Prior to COVID-19 pandemic, NEO was
usually carried out in the form of outing
activities with boarding and team building
(inbound and outbound). NEO was also
often filled with field activities, including
visiting the location of the company’s
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
events.
On the other hand, during the pandmic,
NEO is held by providing materials online.
Each participant may join the online NEO
at the office or at home using their own
devices.
Supervisor of Human Resources (HR)
Learning Center, Learning & Innovation
Center (LIC) Department of HRD & GA
Support at Korindo Group, Yuki Yusman
said that the management had not given
a permission to LIC to hold a face-to-
face training in class despite the health
protocols. “This shows a commitment from
Korindo headquarters’ management in
preventing the spread of COVID-19 at the
head office,” he explained.
Yuki admitted that orientation activities
held by using technology tend to be
challenging. Contrary to face-to-face
meetings, onine activities are more
restricted and it tends to be one-way
communication so it is difficult to
control the attention and focus from the
participants.
However, Yuki hopes that the purpose
of the Batch 2 of Online NEO can still be
achived, namely introducing the company’s
work culture, the company’s vision-
mission and cultural values, as well asthe
company’s contributions to the community
through CSR program. In terms of impact,
NEO is expected to become a platform to
ease the employees’ adjustment with the
new environment.
The series of activities in Batch 2 of
Online NEO began with the introduction
of Korindo Group by Yuki. Through this
session, participants were introduced to
the history, philosophy, cultural values and
various core businesses of the company,
which varied from forestry management,
oil paln plantations, to logistics.
The session was followed with an
introduction of the company’s general
regulations by Erdiaz Puja Rama. In his
presentation, Erdiaz emphasized the
company’s commitment to complying with
the government’s regulations, including
ensuring the fulfillment of rights for every
employee.
The company’s commitment to support
sustainable development was also
introduced to the new employees by
Korindo Foundation, a division specifically
handles Korindo’s Corporate Social
Contributions (CSC) also known as
corporate social responsibility.
One of the information shared was
Korindo’s philosophy to provide
contributions through the CSC series
of actions, which is more than just
responsibilities or meeting ones’ needs.
This is the philosophy that made Korindo
rebranded CSR as CSC.
The first day of Batch 2 of Online NEO
ended with presentation of 6S knowledge
(Sort, Set-in order, Shine, Standardize,
Sustain dan Safety) by Giyanto from
Management Innovation Division of
Korindo Group. This method is used to
create and maintain a well-organized, neat,
and clean environment in the workplace.
The second day of Batch 2 of Online
NEO was filled by presentation on work
ethics and communication delivered
by Learning and Innovation Center
(LIC) Officer of Korindo Group, Venna
Putri. Meanwhile,Health, Safety, and
Environment (HSE) Officer of Korindo
Group. Rendy Noor Salim provided insight
on HSE or Health, Safety, Security, and
Environment (K3L) system that has been
implemented by the company.
In the next session, Laura Tiara from
Korindo Foundation introduced South
Korean culture, including in workplace.
Through this introduction, Laura hopes
that the new employees can adjust
themselves more easily when working
with South Korean employees. The Batch
2 of Online NEO ended with a motivational
session from Yuki.
One of the participants at NEO,
BayuHaryadi said he was very happy to
be able to take part in the NEO’s series
of activities. Many benefits are felt by
the plywood marketing division staff.
“With this program, new employees
did not onlyobtain information on
employment, but also gain new knowledge
and motivations that are important in
developing a career,” he mentioned.
In the future, Bayu hopes that NEO can be
heldwith more exciting and varied events.

2020. The appreciation was given in the
form of award certificate from from the
Regent of Bogor, Ade Yasin.
Korindo Foundation has often been
conducting Corporate Social Contribution
(CSC) programs in Bogor Regent. One of
them is the development of Pakansari City
Forest. The green space, which is located
on the east side of Pakansari Stadium,
Cibinong has been planted with Eucalyptus
deglupta since two years ago. Up to
February 2021, more than 1,800 trees have
been planted.
In this collaboration program, Korindo did
not only do the planting in the early stage.
The company is also directly involved in the
supervision and maintenance processes
of the urban forest for three years. In
November 2022, Korindo Foundation
will hand over the urban forest to the
Bogor Regency Government to continue
themanagement role.
Ade hopes that Pakansari City Forest
will provide many benefits to the local
community, especially from environmental
side. “Today we plant and the benefits
will be felt in the future. Let’s take care of
the environment genuinely and sincerely,”
she said at the groundbreaking ceremony
of Pakansari City Forest development in
November 2019.

In addition to adding more reforestation
areas, the existence of Pakansari City
Forest also provides benefits in terms of
community empowerment by involving
people in the management activities.
So far, Korindo Foundation has invited a
number of residents to be actively involved
in fertilization to control of weeds, which
have the risk of damaging tree growth.
Not only helping to increase people’s
income, the activity is an educational
forum for residents to participate in
preserving the environment in their living
area.
One benefit that is now also widely felt is
the use of weeds for animal feed. At the
back part of Pakansari City Forest, there
is an area thatis difficult to absorb water
(wet area). When the rain falls, water often
pools around the trees, causing weeds to
grow quickly. Korindo Foundation conducts
selective control so the community can use
it for animal feed without hampering the
growth of trees.
Korindo’s CSC in Bogor Regency also covers
health aspect. Through its subsidiary, PT
AspexKumbong, Korindo Group often holds
Supplementary Food Provision (PMT) and
health counseling for pregnant women,
breastfeeding mothers and toddlers. This
activity is expected to build a synergy in
improving the health conditions of mothers
and toddlers.
General Secretary of Korindo Foundation,
SeoJeongSik hopes that the series of
Korindo’s CSC programs held in Bogor
Regency can provide benefits to many
people. On the other hand, the company’s
social responsibility can help the local
government in achieving targets of regional
development.
“In the future, Korindo is committed to
keep continuing to hold CSC programs that
have more significant impact on various
parties,” Seo explained.
This commitment has been proven with
Korindo Group’s plan to develop open
green space in Bogor Regency.Exactly
on the former landfill of PondokRajeg,
Cibinong, Korindo Groupalong with the
Bogor Regency Government will build an
urban forest.
As an initial stage, Korindo Group’s
Afforestation Division is conducting a
feasibility study. The process is targeted to
last for six months starting in June 2021.
This study aims to determine the right
types of trees that can be planted in the
area of former landfill of PondokRajeg.
“We hope that the preparation process can
run quickly so the urban forest can be built
immediately and be enjoyed by the local
community,” Seo concluded.(pr)

WEST KOTAWARINGIN – Regent of
West Kotawaringin (Kobar) Nurhidayah
inaugurated a people’s market built on a
land granted by PT Korindo Ariabima Sari
(KABS), a business unit of Korindo Group,
Tuesday (5/10). The inauguration was part
of the 62nd Anniversary Celebration of
Kobar Regency.
The Bulin River Market is a relocation from
Korindo Market, which was located in
front of the KABS company area. The 1.02
hectare (ha) market is located precisely
at RT 11B Mendawai Urban Village, West
Kotawaringin, Central Kalimantan.
A total of six kiosks and more than 80 stalls
were built by the local government in clean
and neat conditions. Until Friday (24/9), all
stalls have been occupied by sellers. Most
of them have even started selling their
goods.
Nurhidayah said that the completion of the
construction of Bulin River Market is one
of the best gifts in Kobar’s journey. “The
Mendawai community has been dreaming
for the Bulin River Market for so long
considering that Korindo Market or the
old market was less than adequate and it’s
time to be repaired,” she explained at the
inauguration ceremony.
The construction of Bulin River Market
is an effort from the local government
in providing a place to shop for basic
needs for the community. In addition,
the existence of this market is expected
to boost the economic recovery of the
community, especially during the COVID-19
pandemic.
Given the potential benefits of Bulin River

community can work together to maintain
its existence.
Kobar Regency Government plans to turn

The involvement of KABS in the
construction of Bulin River Market
began in March 2019. At that time,
KABS granted a land voluntarily to the
Government of Kobar. After going through
the administration process, the local
government immediately began the
development of the people’s market,
which was completed this year.
The General Manager of KABS Rahmat
Effendy said that the grant of land is proof
of the company’s contribution to improve
the economy and ease the lives of the local
community. “Those who work as sellers
can easily sell their goods here. On the
other hand, residents who did not know
where to buy their daily needs can now
come to the Bulin River Market,” he said.
One of the sellers at Bulin River Market,
Solikin, expressed his appreciation to all
parties involved in the development of the
market. According to him, the company
and the regional government have paid
attention to the needs of small sellers.
Solikin hopes that the construction of
Bulin River Market can continue to be
developed. “If possible, I hope there will be
built a meat grinder and meatball machine
so the market can have more visitors,” he
said.
Meanwhile, another merchant, Willy,
has high hopes for the people’s market.
Although there are only a few buyers at
the moment, he believes the condition
will get better in the future. “There will
definitely be a lot of people. Now it’s still
quiet because it’s new, so it’s normal,” he
uttered.
The inauguration event of Bulin River
Market was also attended by the Chairman
of DPRD of Kobar Rusdi Gozali, Chairman
of Commission C of DPRD Irwan Budiannur,
Community Leader HM Ruslan, Community

Company Information
The 6S method (Sort, Set in order, Shine,
Safety, Standardize, and Sustain) is being
carried out continuously in all locations
of Korindo Group’s business units. This
year, the 6S program in several parts of
Korindo’s business unit is targeted to
achieve level three of sustainability.
As we all know, 6S is the basic tool to
create cleanliness, order, and safety
at workplace. However, most 6S
implementations are ‘seasonal’ and not
being carried out continuously (sustain).
A 6S program can be deemed sustained
if all employees in the company have
made 6S as a work culture. A change of
mindset that 6S is something to do and
not a burden should be embedded in
every employee’s mind. Work habits of
employees at work must also be built in
line with 6S principles.
1. Policy and Commitment from the Top
Management
This effort aims to unite and align a goal
or perspective of an organization toward
the 6S implementation. To maximize its
impact, the company must also create a
work plan, determine the structure of the
organization, the persons in charge, and
the management team of 6S. On the other
hand, 6S policy must be understood by all
employees and serve as the basis while
working.
2. Human Resources Development
Human Resources (HR) is a factor
with great influence to the success in
achieving level three of 6S. Therefore, the
development process must be planned and
realized in a refined manner. 6S human
resource developments that need to be
carried out are as follows:
Training for 6S trainers
Training for 6S auditors
Training for 6S committee
Training for all employees
All the training activities must be reported
to the directors to receive evaluation.
3. Patrol and Evaluation
Once every two months, the 6S Committee
conducts a patrol. This activity aims to
find things that are not in accordance
with the 6S criteria or criteria that require
improvement.
The 6S Committee gives a Red Tag in the
location where the discrepancies found.
All findings must be immediately fixed by
the division or organization related to be
evaluated on the next patrol.
In addition to patrols, each stage of
6S will also be evaluated. This process
is conducted at least twice a year to
determine the division or organization with
the best 6S implementation.
4. Sustainable Improvement and Reports
Every finding of discrepancy must be fixed
by referring to the concept of Plan Do
Check Action (PDCA). Every improvement
result must be reported to the director,
which will be evaluated by the 6S
Committee.
One of the continuous improvement
programs that can be done is Clean Day.
This activity is held once a week.
5. Management Review
This activity is necessary to review all the
changes and improvements that have
been carried out related to 6S. On this
management review, there will also be
evaluation on the conformity between the
plan and the implementation.
This review is conducted once a year and
can be combined with a review on other
management systems.
When everything is done, there will be
a workplace that is clean, organized,
disciplined, and safe. Every employee
will also have awareness on the 6S
implementation in their workplace. That
is where we will see that 6S has become a
work culture.

JAKARTA- Korindo Group held a training
once again for new employees, known
as New Employee Orientation (NEO) on
Wednesday (27/10) and Thursday (28/10).
Initiated by the Learning & Innovation
Center (LIC) of Korindo Group, this time,
NEO was attended by 28 participants and
was held virtually.
NEO, which has been held virtually for
the third time used a new system called
blended learning. With this system,
participants will not only receive the
material from the lecturers, but also from
online or e-learning training.
Training is carried out with quizzes on
website letslearn.my.id which was created
by LIC. In addition, the training material
about Korindo Group’s company profile,
ethics, and communication in the office,
company regulations, as well as working
attitude in the company can also be found
at the website letslearn.my.id.
Human Resources (HR) Learning Center
Supervisor of the Learning & Innovation
Center (LIC) Department of HR & GA
Support at Korindo Group, Yuki Yusman
mentioned that blended learning is an
innovation to improve the participants’
ability for self-learning. “So they could
learn anywhere and anytime,” he said.
The material presented at NEO varied,
from Korindo Group’s journey to
introduction on the work culture.
Participants were also encouraged to
understand how to communicate well with
everyone, especially in their daily activities
at Korindo Group headquarters.
On the first day, Wednesday, Yuki invited
the virtual NEO participants to get to know
the history of Korindo Group.Through
these materials, a new employee will be
able to know and understand Korindo’s
business journey up to now, which is more
than 50 years old.
Furthermore, on the second day of NEO,
Yuki also delivered material on proper and
effective communication. This material is
expected to help boost the participants’
confidence while communicating both
inside and outside of Korindo Group.
Meanwhile, the Head of LIC, Setiyono
introduced a work culture filled with
discipline, togetherness, and innovation.
Therefore, it is important for Korindo
Group’s new employees to understand the
personalities of their co-workers.
One of the participants of NEO, Mochamad
Fadel said that the online-based training
could ease the new employees in getting to
know Korindo Group, “The new e-learning
system makes it easier for people to
understand the online learning of NEO
Batch #3. Even though there were a few
obstacles, the team handled them swiftly.
This is a new achievement that must be
appreciated,” he said.
Although the e-learning-based blended
learning system is quite efficient,
suggestions and inputs are still needed
for the development of the orientation on
the website letslearn.my.id and the self-
learning method as a handbook for Korindo
Group employees to get to know a number
of important aspects of the company,
including the company’s regulations which
sets out the rights and obligations for each
employee of Korindo Group in order to
create a harmonious family-oriented work
relationship. (pr)

Implementation and Development
of HSEMS in the Company
Korindo Group is committed to applying
the principles of Health, Safety, and
Environment (HSE) in every activity of the
company. Gradually, Korindo also develops
and implements a HSE Management
System or HSEMS that has been set.
HSEMS is an integrated and comprehensive
system that regulates the implementation
of HSE in all company activities, from
upstream to downstream activities.
This management system is established
and outlined in the Regulation of the
Government of the Republic of Indonesia
No. 50 of 2012 on the Implementation
of Occupational Safety and Health
Management Systems.
The implementation of HSEMS is done
through a series of comprehensive
process. The process starts with
workshop of the development of HSEMS,
benchmarking with other companies that
have implemented HSEMS, fulfillment of
competence by general HSE expert and
other HSE experts according to the needs
of the company until the HSE certification
internal auditor obtain a license from
Indonesia’s Ministry of Manpower.
Improvement on employees’ awareness
at each company through HSE-related
training is held periodically. Coaching
on the application of HSE regulations is
in accordance with HSEMS criteria to
the assessment of implementation level
through the mechanism of internal HSEME
cross-audit.
Although constrained by distance due to
the COVID-19 pandemic, the willingness
in meeting all the HSEMS criteria is always
strong.
From September 20, 2021 to March
26, 2021, Internal Audit on HSEMS
implementation was carried out. The
audit was conducted in a professional
manner with a cross-system to maintain
independence and objectivity.
The internal auditors who carried out the
audit are personnel with qualifications
and competence approved by Indonesia’s
Ministry of Manpower. This internal
audit is expected to directly reveal the
implementation of HSEMS in any company.
Lastly, through this process, it is
expected that Korindo’s commitment in
implementing aspects of HSE in all of its
business activities can continue and receive
an official recognition from the Indonesian
Government. (Setiyono)

SKKNI-based Training Development
Human Resources Development (HR)
in an important program that must be
carried out in an organization. This is
because HR has a crucial role to the
progress of the organization. By having
competent (superior) human resources,
the organization’s performance will also be
better.
To develop the competence of human
resources, Indonesia has standards called
the Indonesian National Competency
Standards (SKKNI). SKKNI is the formulation
of work ability that includes aspects of
knowledge, skills, and/or expertise, and
work attitude that are relevant to task
performances and determined position
requirements.
SKKNI is an indicator to determine the
competence of a person in skills and
abilities needed for work. The skills and
abilities certainly must correspond to the
field of work of each individual.
This system was prepared by the
government to optimize the competence
of human resources as early as possible,
so they will have high qualifications.
As an end result, they will be able to
compete positively in the field of work and
profession they will take on.
Korindo Group, through the Learning &
Innovation Center, also set SKKNI as one
of the basis for the development of its
human resources. Started in 2017, Korindo
conducts SKKNI-based training.
The training is held for employees in
plantation, from foremen, plantation
assistants, chief assistants, managers,
and general managers. The training is
conducted in cooperation with Stiper
Agricultural Institute (Instiper) as a
facilitator.
In addition to carrying out SKKNI-
based training, Korindo also develops
Competency Test Places (TUK) in the
same year. The development is carried
out under the support of the Professional
Certification Body (LSP) of the Ministry of
Agriculture.
To date, the development of SKKNI-
based training is also carried out in other
Korindo’s business units. Starting from
the development of training modules
that are based on SKKNI such as palm oil
processing, plywood industry, and paper
industry. In the future, a development of
SKKNI-based trainings for other business
fields will also be held.(Setiyono)

  • 4. Message from the Management Greetings to all readers of One Step Ahead. Time keeps passing by. Without realizing it, we have stepped into the end of 2021. In a short time, we will welcome 2022, the year full of hope and new spirit. Hopefully the time we have lived up to now can be a blessing for ourselves and the people around us. Also hopefully, 2022 will be a better year than the previous years. The pandemic has not yet ended. However, expectations for better and more favorable circumstances must not fade. We must believe that we can make it through these difficult times by helping each other with a sense of togetherness, which is already strongly instilled within us. This sense of togetherness is also firmly held by Korindo Group in running business activities and social contributions. We are aware that the pandemic is a difficult thing to handle without teamwork from various parties. And it is an honor for us to be involved in helping people in Indonesia to face the pandemic. I invite the big family of Korindo Group to participate and take part in providing solutions in these difficult times. We can share many things with others. It is not always about materials or things. We can give prayers, encouragement, and moral support to those in need. Furthermore, I tirelessly remind us all about the importance of health protocol. Wearing masks, maintaining distance, avoiding the crowd and regular hand washing must be done to prevent a wider spread of COVID-19 virus. This is not just about us, but the people around us. In this opportunity, I would also like to ask the big family of Korindo Group not to lose a sense of optimism. We must believe that years full of challenges due to the pandemic will soon pass, and be replaced with a year full of opportunities. Make the experience during this pandemic a valuable lesson for us to step into the future with better achievements. This optimism can be formed through careful planning. Innovation, hard work, and cooperation between teams and cross- division are also important elements in it. It is not easy, but I believe we can achieve it. I believe every individual in Korindo Group can take part in teamwork and build dreamwork to reach the best achievement. Until eventually, Korindo Group can provide a bigger contribution to the people and the nation of Indonesia. Korindo Group family must always be energetic, creative, open-minded, and innovative for continuous improvement. Because strong human resources (HR) are the company’s assets to build a company that is developed and able to adapt to any changes. Lastly, as one big family of Korindo Group, I hope we can continue to prepare ourselves and actively participate in achieving a brighter future. I also pray that we can do the best for ourselves, our families, and the company. I hope the pandemic will soon be over and the world can recover. I also hope these last moments of 2021 can be a time for us to be more productive. I wish good health for us all. Mr Seung Eun Ho Chairman Korindo Group 2 One Step Ahead | Vol. 5 Edition 8 – December 2021 Management Message
  • 5. Editorial Message Greetings to One Step Ahead readers, We have stepped into the fourth quarter of 2021. Although the pandemic has not yet ended, Korindo Group’s desire to provide social contribution for the sake of the welfare of the Indonesian people never fades away. This positive energy is what we tried to summarize in the 8th edition of One Step Ahead magazine. The social contribution efforts that we refer to as Corporate Social Contribution (CSC) also involves many parties. Especially together with the local government as policy makers in the company’s operational area. This synergy is what makes Korindo Group always able to consistently contribute to the development of Indonesia. One of our CSC activities that we highlighted in the 8th edition of the magazine is the development of Pondok Rajeg City Forest, Bogor Regency. Not only for the environmental preservation, this program also seeks to achieve the goal of community empowerment. This large-scale greening program is the second program carried out by Korindo Group in Bogor Regency. Previously, in 2019, Korindo Group through Korindo Foundation had built and managed the Pakansari City Forest. A hydroponic mentorship program was also continued and developed more massively. This time, Korindo Foundation teamed up with a farmers group in the company area to develop urban farming in the new normal era. Consistency in running a program with a similar theme, yet in a more massive scale, is proof that Korindo Group implemented the principle of sustainability. The principle of sustainability that has been implemented so far was recognized and received appreciation from various stakeholders. Including the local government, which is the external stakeholder of Korindo Group. In this 8th edition of One Step Ahead Magazine, we also discuss the latest program from Korindo Foundation, namely Korindo Green Sponsorship 2021. In this program, Korindo Foundation provided relief fund assistance of up to Rp 30 million to two selected organizations for a two-year period of program. As a closing remark, we would like to encourage the big family of Korindo Group to care about each other during the difficult times due to the pandemic. Furthermore, we tirelessly ask you, the readers, to innovate. The COVID-19 pandemic has driven Indonesia to change through new ways and we are forced to leave our old habits that aren’t relevant and go beyond impossibilities. We hope the contents we presented in this 2021’s 8th edition of One Step Ahead Magazine can be beneficial for you. Happy reading. • 6. JAKARTA – Since its dedication in Indonesia in 1969, Korindo Group always strives to be a company that is driven by a good purpose. The purpose is simple yet clear, which is to help create a better Indonesia. In addition to products and business activities, Korindo strives to achieve these goals through social responsibility, which is branded as Corporate Social Contribution (CSC). In general, Korindo Group CSC holds onto five pillars, namely education, health, economy, environment, and infrastructure. Through these pillars, Korindo has a strong desire to be a part of the solution to sustainable development in Indonesia. With CSC pillars as guidance, we implement social contribution programs in various forms of activities. All of which have one purpose; to provide long-term benefits for society and the environment. The Chairman of Korindo Group Robert Seung, who also serves as the Chief Executive of Korindo Foundation said that Korindo’s social responsibility is only a small part of what it takes to create a better Indonesia. “However, we keep striving to be the catalyst of change. We believe that by sharing, life will be more meaningful,” said Robert. Korindo always seeks to conduct CSC programs that are on target. This can be achieved through collaborations between the headquarters, business units that are spread in various regions of Indonesia, and Korindo Foundation as a division that specifically handles Korindo’s social responsibility programs. This synergy also ensures that the impact of Korindo’s CSC programs can reach out to more communities in Indonesia. In accordance with our principle, wherever Korindo’s business unit is located, it must provide benefits and inspiration for the surrounding environment. Korindo also often provides situational assistance, including assistance to people affected by disasters. One of the assistances is food aid to the people affected by flood in North Arut District and South Arut District, West Kotawaringin, Central Kalimantan, in August last year. An intensive support was also given by Korindo to people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Assistance was provided in various forms, from medical equipment for health workers, provision of vitamins and masks to the community, to scholarships for affected students. Robert described that the series of actions carried out by Korindo is a form of concern toward others and appreciation for the devotion and dedication of the medical workers in facing the pandemic. “This is what we can contribute from Korindo for Indonesia,” he said. Five Pillars of CSC for the Community After five decades of dedication in Indonesia, Korindo has now become the leading company in various industries in the markets of Asia, the Middle East, United States, and Europe. Korindo’s Korindo CSC Creates Future of Sustainability In carrying out its social contribution, Korindo Group set 5 pillars, namely Education, Health, Economy, Environment, dan Infrastructure. 4 One Step Ahead | Vol. 5 Edition 8 – December 2021 Main Stories
  • 7. success is not only determined by the management and operational performance. The support from the community is also a major factor in the company’s achievement. In Korindo’s point of view, community is not only defined as people living near the company’s areas. Moreover, the ones who are continuously involved in the company’s business and social activities are also a part of the community according to Korindo. In this context, Korindo has a commitment to improve the harmonious and mutually beneficial relationship with the community through CSC. Korindo has also directed so that the entire CSC program will be able to provide positive impacts for life, the community’s mindset, as well as environmental sustainability. In creating every CSC activity, Korindo sets sustainable development as orientation, a way of thinking, and guidance, which is still based on the five pillars. The quality of Human Resources (HR) is one of the keys to success in sustainable development. From this understanding, Korindo consistently provides assistances in the field of education, including scholarships. Some of the programs that are regularly held is Yonsei University Exchange Program, an exchange between Indonesian student with student from Yonsei University, South Korea. Korindo also often provides funding assistance to high- achieving children of employees. Korindo’s attention is not only intended for high level education. A few years ago, Korindo also donated educational games for the Early Childhood Education (PAUD) level in Pancoran area, South Jakarta. Korindo realized that the quality of education in Indonesia can not be separated from the role of teachers. Therefore, through a number of CSC programs, Korindo also provides support to educators who have a real dedication for the development of education in Indonesia. The next pillar is the pillar of health. Consistently, Korindo Group emphasizes the importance of equitable access to health in the CSC program. This attention was addressed in the form of construction of health clinics in several operational areas of Korindo’s business units that can be utilized by the local residents. Through these clinics, Korindo provides treatment at an affordable price, with Dok. 2019 Dok. 2019 5 One Step Ahead | Vol. 5 Edition 8 – December 2021 Main Stories

On the other hand, various health campaigns are also regularly carried out, including health counseling for children, young mothers, pregnant and breastfeeding women. Several Korindo’s business units have shown their consistency to contribute towards toddlers’ health. For instance, Korindo’s Paper Products Division that provides additional nutritious food (Supplementary feeding/PMT) on a regular basis to hundreds of toddlers in a number of integrated health posts (Posyandu). In its implementation, the Paper Products Division teamed up with health activists in Bogor, which is the company’s location. Mobile posyandu activity is also a part of Paper Products Division’s CSC in health. The program, which is being carried out often, is proof of the company’s concern for the health of the community around the operational area. Korindo aspires to be a company that is able to provide benefits to the local economic development and the surrounding communities. To realize this desire, Korindo regularly carries out CSC programs in the pillar of economy that encourages economic independence to improve the community’s welfare. Productive business assistances in the form of financing and equipment are often provided. Among them are for fish and poultry livestock business to cultivation of vegetable crops and hydroponics. At the same time, Korindo is commited to conduct a mentoring program. This activity is intended to help the community’s business to be able to produce the best results that last long term. The productive and direct business assistance is expected to increase the income of every family and improve local economic growth. The end result is a sustainable social welfare that can be felt by many parties. Through the pillar of environment, Korindo strives to help the community and environment to receive added value from the company’s presence. One of them is Bogor Regency Government in the green collaboration activity, which has started since 2019 through the development of the Pakansari City Forest. In 2021, a collaboration was held once again in the development of Pondok Rajeg City Forest. Not only for environment preservation, greening activities conducted by Korindo were also carried out with the aim of community empowerment. This is achieved through community involvement in the development preparation and maintenance of Pakansari City Forest and Pondok Rajeg City Forest. The last pillar is infrastructure. One of the important priorities in Korindo’s CSC is the infrastructure development for the public benefit. This focus was delivered in the form of assistance for the construction and development of infrastructures such as the repair of roads and bridges. Land grants are also a part of CSC in the pillar of infrastructure. This program is conducted by the Timber Plantation Division in the form of a land area of 10.2 hectares (ha) which was handed over voluntarily to the West Kotawaringin Regency Government, Central Kalimantan. This land was utilized by the government to build people’s market with the go green concept. Sustainability in Business Activities The principle of sustainability is not only strongly held by Korindo in the CSC activities. In running its business lines, Korindo continues to take part in topic of sustainability, for national and global scales. One of the topics that are included in Korindo’s priority is environmentally friendly development, such as low carbon development which is projected as the new drive for the economy. In addition to high oil prices, this perspective can not be separated from issues of environmental damage and degradation. Korindo seeks to take part in the topic through a commitment to sustainable forest management. Korindo’s Forestry Division optimizes wood production with high quality that can be utilized for a wide range of products, including paper and plywood. Meanwhile, the Paper Products Division produces newsprint and paper-based products made from recycled paper. Korindo is known as one of the market leaders in this sector. On the other hand, Korindo’s Oil Palm Division develops its function in continuous and sustainable manner by applying efficient management practices and procedures. A commitment to creating a sustainable development is also implemented by Korindo through the development of wind power as a part of renewable energy. Our wind tower company was founded four decades ago and has obtained ISO 9001 certification after going through a rigorous international quality and compliance test to produce high-quality goods while always providing timely service. • 10. WEST KOTAWARINGIN– Central Kalimantan (Kalteng) Province had experienced oxygen crisis for treating COVID-19 patients. As quoted from Media Indonesia on Tuesday (27/7), oxygen supply at hospitals in Central Kalimantan was only enough for seven days. The regional government was trying hard to find extra supply of oxygen, both from the central government and private companies located in the area. The oxygen crisis occurred along with a significant increase in the number of COVID-19 patients, yet it was not followed with sufficient supply of oxygen. The supply was increasingly limited considering that the average oxygen needs for COVID-19 patients is much higher than the one for patients with typical diseases. “While patients with typical diseases need an average of 4-5 liters of oxygen per minute, COVID-19 patients need as much as 48 liters per minute,” the Head of Central Kalimantan Health Service, Suyuti Syamsul explained. At that time, the demand for oxygen was estimated to increase up to three times compare to the usual need. Health facilities even borrowed from each other in order to meet the demand. Hospitals that owned a lot of oxygen supply lent some to other hospitals experiencing an oxygen crisis. When that supply was met or additional supply oxygen was available, the oxygen supply would be returned. Various efforts were made by the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government. One of them was writing to the central government to help with the oxygen supply, especially for regencies with only one hospital available. The regional government also contacted all oxygen distributors all over Central Kalimantan to increase production and ensure an effective distribution. Efforts to find more oxygen supply were also aggressively carried out by hospitals. Quoted from a local media, Pro Kalteng on Wednesday (28/7), Dr. Doris Sylvanus Hospital (RSDS) Palangka Raya continued its coordination with liquid oxygen distributors that once reduced their supplies due to being overwhelmed. This critical condition prompted PT Korindo Ariabima Sari (KABS) to restart its oxygen From Korindo, For Indonesia More than one year has passed since the COVID-19 pandemic hit Indonesia.Difficult times filled with limitations were felt by many. As a company operating in Central Kalimantan, West Kotawaringin, KABS has a moral responsibility to join the effort in solving the regional problems by trying to meet the oxygen needs. For three months, from July to September 2021, KABS produced oxygen meant for the handling of COVID-19 pandemic in Central Kalimantan. The donation was handed over to the West Kotawaringin Regency Government to be distributed to West Kotawaringin as well as other regions in Central Kalimantan. This collaboration was written as an agreement in the form of memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed at the West Kotawaringin Regency Office on Tuesday (3/8), which was attended in person by the Regent of West Kotawaringin, Nurhidayah and the Director of KABS, Lim Young Taek. The oxygen produced by KABS was estimated to be able to fill 70 to 80 oxygen tanks per day. “Hopefully with this donation, the oxygen shortage could be resolved,” said the General Manager of KABS, Rahmad Effendi, on behalf of Lim. Since the last three years, oxygen generator owned by KABS had no longer been in operation. However, the West Kowaringin Regency Government and other related parties has ensured that the machine can function properly after being checked and received an operation-worthy certificate. Within the first two days, KABS’ oxygen production was estimated to reach 900 large-sized tanks. The tanks were immediately distributed to hospitals and treatment facilities in West Kotawaringin as well as other areas in Central Kalimantan , namely Lamandau, Kapuas, and Palangka Raya City. KABS handed over all of the technical process and distribution arrangement of the oxygen to the local government so it would have a ‘one-door’ policy so as not to cause confusion for the public. “Our task is merely to carry out the production,” said Rahmad, quoted by Kalteng Online, Sunday (25/7). Korindo Group’s concern during the COVID-19 pandemic was shown through various programs. In addition to assisting with the oxygen production while on shortage, Korindo Group through its business units provided direct assistance in the form of medical equipment supply. In July, PT Dongbang Development (Dongbang), a business unit in the real estate sector, distributed vitamins and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the community in Pancoran through the urban village office. Previously, Korindo Group also distributed hundreds of thousands of surgical masks and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to medical workers in Papua. The series of assistance provided is expected to be able to ease the burden of the community, the local governments, and medial workers in facing these difficult times. As a company with more than five decades of dedication in Indonesia, Korindo Group will continue its contributions in easing the burden.(pr) 9 One Step Ahead | Vol. 5 Edition 8 – December 2021 Main Stories
  • 12. JAKARTA– A number of Korindo Group’s Corporate Social Contribution (CSC) programs received a positive attention from various parties, including the government. At both central and regional levels, the government often appreciates Korindo’s contributions, which includes infrastructure and environment sectors. The latest appreciation was expressed by the Regency Government of West Kotawaringin, Central Kalimantan, for the oxygen donation provided by Korindo through PT Korindo Ariabima Sari (KABS). The company allocated the oxygen it produced to community in West Kotawaringin and other regions in Central Kalimantan. Regent Nurhidayah described that the West Kotawaringin region was experiencing an oxygen shortage so that an assistance from KABS would have significant impact. “I express my gratitude and appreciation to the management of PT Korindo Ariabima Sari for helping in oxygen production,” she said during the cooperation agreement on Tuesday (3/8). Nurhidayah said that her team alongside the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government had carried out a feasibility test on oxygen production in KABS and the results had met the criteria. The cooperation of oxygen distribution will run from July to September 2021. Previously, praises were also given to PT Korintiga Hutani (KTH), a Korindo Group’s business unit specialized in forestry sector in Central Kalimantan. The West Kotawaringin Regency Government expressed its appreciation for the construction of a connecting road between Nanga Mua Village and Pangkut Urban Village. The construction was a consortium carried out by KTH to facilitate the traffic of people and goods. Another appreciation came from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. They considered that the assistance and guidance on the catfish cultivation one developed by Korindo in South Jakarta area by involving the elderly gave a positive and massive impact. Especially in providing a platform for the elderly to carry out productive activities. Two years ago, Korindo through Korindo Foundation even received an award from the Padmamitra+ Awards for the urban farming program in Pengadegan, South Jakarta. At the awarding, Korindo Foundation received an award in the category ‘Social Programs that Deliver Sustainable Impact’. Padmamitra+ Awards are given to companies that have taken part in developing Jakarta through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities. The award was handed over in person by the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan. “Together with the DKI Jakarta CSR Forum, we will continue to collaborate and synergize so Jakarta can progress as a city and bring happiness to its citizens,” he said at the time. Appreciation also came from Bogor. The Bogor Regency Government gave an award certificate to Korindo Foundation as an organizer of social and environmental responsibility that has played a role in the development in Bogor Regency in the 2019-2020 period. The charter was given for the development program of Pakansari City Forest, Cibinong. On top of a two hectare (ha) land, Korindo revamped an unused empty area into a lush open green space planted with Eucalyptus deglupta trees. In collaboration with Bogor Regency Government, Korindo started to build and manage the Pakansari City Forest in 2019. In 2022, Korindo will fully hand it over to the local government to be used as a place for recreation or sports for the local community. Despite the series of appreciation and praises it has received, Korindo will not stop providing social contributions. “This achievement actually brought enthusiasm for us to be more active, aggressive, and expansive in implementing CSC which has a more significant impact on many parties,” said Seo Jeong Sik, General Secretary of Korindo Foundation. One of the follow-up actions is the development plan of urban forest on the former Landfill of Pondok Rajeg, Bogor. At the moment, Korindo’s Afforestation Division is conducting a feasibility test to ensure the suitability of plants that will be planted with the land characteristics. Korindo’s commitment to contribute to people, environment, and the government through CSC has been carried out for more than 50 years of the company’s economic activities in Indonesia. • 13. JAKARTA –Since March 2020, COVID-19 has hit various countries, including Indonesia. According to the data on Covid19.go.id, up untillast August, more than 4 million positive cases were recorded in Indonesia with 3.7 million of them having recovered. Around 130,000 people have died fighting the virus. Numerous efforts have been made by the government and stakeholders to suppress the spread of the virus, including implementing a policy of restricting activities in crowd places. As a result, the economic wheels of a number of community groups have stalled. As part of an industry that has long been operating in Indonesia, Korindo Group wanted to take part in the issue. Through various Corporate Social Contribution (CSC) programs, Korindo Group helped the community to adapt during the COVID-19 pandemic. One of the activities carried out is the development of urban farming. This program was initiated by Korindo Foundation, a division specifically handles Korindo Group’s social responsibility programs, alongside the Arpati Farmers Group of RT 08/001, Pengadegan Urban Village, Pancoran, South Jakarta. Korindo Foundation also teamed-up with Saparno, a resident of Pengadegan who had previously been active in hydroponic activities, as a mentor for Arpati Farmers Group. Six years ago, Korindo Foundation sent Saparno to attend a training on hydroponic at the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB). The first urban farming program began in March 2021 by building hydroponic and aquaponicsinstallations with a capacity of 200 plant hydroponic plant holes and 1,000 freshwater fish. Two months after, Arpati Farmers Groups had already harvested five kilograms (kg) of bok choy and kale plants as well as hundreds of catfish. General Secretary of Korindo Foundation, Seo Jeongsik said that the development of urban farming on the Ciliwung riverbank could be an example of reforestation activities as well as economic empowerment for the community. This activity tends to be easy to do with results that can help meet the community food needs and drive the wheels of economy. “This can be a part of urban farming development program in the current new normal era,” Seo Jeongsik said. Efforts to encourage the community’s economic independence during the pandemic are also carried out through a partnership program called Korindo Green Sponsorship 2021. This program is being run for the first time by Korindo Foundation with the aim of supporting development, including Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Greater Jakarta area (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi). Through the program, Korindo Foundation provides an assistance fund of a maximum Rp 30 million for two selected organizations for two years. Kajang Mandiri Sejahtera and Komunitas Peduli Yatim dan Dhuafa are the two organizations that managed to pass the selection process. The two selected organizations are both developing catfish farms. Mandiri Sejahtera prioritizes its harvest for the welfare of the local community. Meanwhile, Komunitas Peduli Yatim dan Dhuafa shares some of its harvest to orphans and the poor. The Manager of Korindo Foundation, Setiyono said explained that Korindo Green Sponsorship 2021 emphasizes the sustainability aspect in accordance with Korindo Group’s CSC values. This program is not merely ceremonial, but instead considers the long-term impact on the community and the surrounding environment. “Therefore, we also provide assistance,” he concluded. • 14. JJAKARTA – Environment preservation is one of the pillars of Korindo Group in conducting its Corporate Social Contribution (CSC) programs. Through various sustainable initiatives, Korindo hopes that the community and the environment will receive added-value from the company’s existence. Greening activity is the main program carried out within the field of the environment in CSC. From the development of hydroponics in community scale to the development of urban forest, all were conducted to achieve the purpose of environment preservation and community empowerment. After initiating a hydroponic cultivation program in a narrow alley in Rawajati Urban Village, Pancoran, South Jakarta, which was started four years ago and still ongoing until today, Korindo held a similar program once again. In March 2021, the company initiated an urban farming activity in Pengadegan Urban Village, Pancoran, by teaming up with Arpati RT 08/001 Farmers Group. In its new program, Korindo developed hydroponics and aquaponics at the Ciliwung Riverside. Two months passed, the urban farming has brought results. At least five kilograms of bok choy and kale plants as well as dozens of catfish have been harvested at the early stage of the program. Most of the harvest is sold directly to the local community, while the rest is consumed with families. A greening activity in a larger scale was also carried out by Korindo by developing an urban forest in Bogor Regency, West Java. Exactly on the former landfill of Pondok Rajeg, Cibinong, Korindo Foundation with the Bogor Regency Government will develop an open green space of seven hectares (ha). In June 2021, Afforestation Division of Korindo Group has started to conduct a feasibility study in the area. About two months afterward, or in early September, Korindo together with Bogor Regency conducted a land clearing process on an area of 2,700 square meters to be used as a trial area. When the land clearing process is finished, the area will be planted with sengon and trembesi trees. The trial planting activity is expected to last for one year, which will end in September 2022. The development of Pondok Rajeg City Forest is not only proof of Korindo’s commitment in environment preservation. This program also illustrates the company’s efforts in empowering the local community. At least six local citizens were happily involved in the land clearing activity, including Abdurahman (65 years old). “Thankfully, we are being involved. I was Continuous Greening for Sustainable Environment and Prosperous Community Condition of former landfill of Pondok Rajeg, Bogor, which will be turned into an urban forest by Korindo Group and Bogor Regency Government. 12 One Step Ahead | Vol. 5 Edition 8 – December 2021 Main Stories
  • 15. involvement of the community is proof of sustainability that Korindo Group is trying achieve in each CSC program. “We don’t want to carry out a social responsibility that is only ceremonial, but a social responsibility that provides wide and long term benefits,” he said. Greening activities are also actively being carried out by business units of Korindo Group. One of them is PT Aspex Kumbong that is carrying out integrated greening activity or land rehabilitation of nonproductive land into productive land to be utilized as greening zone and fruit trees cultivation area. The program, known as Green Corner was carried out on an open land near company area in Cileungsi, Bogor. Outside Java Island, PT Korintiga Hutani planted 1,000 trees in Sungai Pulau Village, West Kotawaringin, Central Kalimantan. There seeds are expected to grow lush and become water infiltration around the village water reservoir, so it would be beneficial to the local community and local biodiversity. In the future, Seo said, Korindo will continue to innovate in carrying out CSC activities in the field of the environment. “We ensure to contribute to the environment preservation for the sake of providing benefits to the environment itself and the local community,” he said. Pondok Rajeg City Forest is the second open green space developed by Korindo in collaboration with Bogor Regency. Previously, in 2019, Korindo Foundation has developed Pakansari City Forest, which is located in the Pakansari Stadium, Cibinong. To date, Korindo is still responsible for the management of the urban forest by involving the local community. The responsibility will be handed over to Bogor Regency in November 2022 to be used as a place of recreation or open green space by the surrounding community. • 16. Pondok Rajeg City Forest, a Synergy of Bogor Regency Govt. and Korindo for the Environment BOGOR – Bogor Regency Government and Korindo Group once again formed a synergy to preserve the environment through the development of an urban forest. After successfully converting a vacant land into green open space in Pakansari, Cibinong, now both parties carried out an attempt to revamp the former landfill of Pondok Rajeg, Cibinong, Bogor, West Java. A collaboration between Bogor Regency Government and Korindo stems from a strong commitment to build a green area that is beneficial for the wider community. An urban forest will not only provide an added value from the aesthetic side, but also functions as an air purifier, ensures the availability of ground water, protects against the heat of the sun and acts as a habitat for animals in the city. Those benefits has now began to be felt in Pakansari City Forest. The two hectare (ha) open green space near the Pakansari Stadium is now covered with Eucalyptus deglupta. The shady tree cover creates a cool and comfortable atmosphere to rest. The Pakansari City Forest has entered its second year. Korindo Foundation has also been handling the management for the same period of time. Next year, around November 2022, Korindo Foundation will officially hand over Pakansari City Forest to the Bogor Regency Government to be used as a place of recreation for the local community. Korindo keeps showing its commitment in a tireless and continuous manner. Two years after the inauguration of Pakansari City Forest, Korindo together with Bogor Regency Government held a collaboration to build a Pondok Rajeg City Forest. 2020 is the year when Korindo began its involvement in the development of Pondok Rajeg City Forest. At that time, Korindo Foundation sent a Letter of Interest (LoI) to the Bogor Regency Government regarding the company’s interest in supporting the development of urban forest. After going through a number of discussions, the two parties started the preparation stage. In June 2021, the Afforestation Division of Korindo Group together with the Regional Development Planning Agency Research and Development (Bappedalitbang) as well as the Environmental Service Office (DLH) of Bogor Regency conducted a land survey. In the survey, as many as three plots sized 30 meters x 30 meters were created for the trial area. Each plot is covered with 100 trembesi and sengon trees. A feasibility study needed to be done in advance given the land characteristics in the former landfill of Pondok Rajeg tend to be soft, as opposed to the one in Pakansari City Forest or the other open green space areas built by Korindo. In mid-September, on Monday (13/9), Korindo Foundation and Bogor Regency Government inaugurated the trial planting of Pondok Rajeg City Forest through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This signing process was held in the Office of Bappedalitbang of Bogor Regency. The trial activity started on Monday (25/9) followed by intensive monitoring. The process is targeted to run for a year and will end in September 2022. When the trial process is finished, both parties will enter into the next stage, namely the signing of the MoU for the official planting stage. The General Secretary of Korindo Foundation Seo Jeongsik hoped that the trial process can run smoothly and show good results so that the development process can be continued on the entire land. “Therefore, the existence of Pondok Rajeg City Forest will be able to immediately provide benefits to the entire community,” he said while giving a speech at the inauguration of the trial planting of Pondok Rajeg City Forest. Bogor Regency Government through the Head of the Environmental Service Office, Asnan expressed his deepest appreciation and gratitude to Korindo Foundation for actively contributing to the development of Bogor Regency. “Hopefully all stages will run smoothly so that Pondok Rajeg City Forest can provide optimal benefits for the community in order to create a comfortable Bogor Regency,” he said on behalf of the Bogor Regent Ade Yasin, who was unable to attend the event. Asnan mentioned that the green collaboration carried out by Korindo has helped realize Bogor Regency Government’s commitment to set up a number of Open Green Spaces (RTH) in Bogor Regency. In the future, he hopes that Korindo can continue to participate and create a synergy in various development program from the local government, especially in greening activities. Urban Forest for the Community In building an urban forest, Korindo Group does not only consider the benefits to the environment. On the other hand, Korindo also takes concern about its impacts on the local community. Therefore, the empowerment of the local community is something that must be done. While managing Pakansari City Forest, Korindo invited the local community to participate in its maintenance. They are involved in the clean-up activity of wild plants, cutting of the lower limbs, to the provision of fertilizers. Korindo also provides flexibility to the community to utilize the weeds in the back area of Pakansari City Forest as livestock feed. “This is proof of our efforts to always provide a positive and optimal impact for the local community in each of our CSC activity,” said Seo Jeongsik. Korindo’s participation in the development and management of Pakansari City Forest received an appreciation from the Bogor Regency Government. This appreciation was given in the form of an award certificate for Korindo Foundation as an agent for social and environmental responsibility, which has been instrumental in the development in Bogor Regency within the period of 2019-2020 As has been previously done in Pakansari City Forest, Korindo once again empowered the local community in the development of Pondok Rajeg City Forest, Bogor. Six local residents were involved in the land clearing activity for a trial area. They cut down the banana plants that previously covered the area. The banana stems are used as a border of the trial area. Korindo’s commitment is in line with Bogor Regency’s wish. The Head of Pondok Rajeg Village Suhendi ensured that the local residents would be involved in the development and management process of Pondok Rajeg City Forest in the future. This involvement is expected to help the community who are looking for an additional income during the pandemic. Especially those who have been receiving income from utilizing banana plants in the area of Pondok Rajeg former landfill. “With this urban forest, they (re: the cultivating community) hoped to be empowered and we will facilitate that,” said Suhendi. • 18. Pakansari City Forest Brings Many Benefits Ahead of Its Second Year BOGOR – Pakansari City Forest, Bogor has started to bring many benefits to the surrounding community, from economic to environmental aspects. This green space is part of the Corporate Social Contribution (CSC) programs from Korindo Foundation in collaboration with Bogor Regency Government. One of the benefits that was felt is the empowerment of the local community. In managing Pakansari City Forest, Korindo Foundation invited several residents to take part in its maintenance. They were involved in fertilization, cutting of lower branches, and controlling of weeds that have the potential to interfere with the tree growth. Hendrik (52 years old), one of the residents empowered by Korindo, said that he was happy to be involved in managing Pakansari City Forest. In addition to providing help in terms of income, this activity is a meansto participate in environmental preservation in his living area. “I am happy to be able to help here,” said Hendrik, who regularly visits the urban forest to check the condition of the tree growth. In the future, Hendrik hopes that the green space located in front of the Pakansari Stadium can be more lush so that it can provide many benefits for the local community. In Pakansari City Forest, only one type of tree is planted, namely Eucalyptus deglupta. The planting process began in 2019 on an area of 2 hectares (ha). As of February 2021, more than 1,800 trees have been planted. General Secretary of Korindo Foundation, Seo Jeong Sik stated that Pakansari City Forest is a fruit of commitment from Korindo Foundation to participate in preserving the environment while also empowering the local community. He explained that since the beginning the management of the urban forest has been carried out together with the local community while still being supervised by Korindo Foundation. “We invited several residents to take care of the place together,” he said. With this intensive management, Eucalyptus deglupta trees have grown lush in Pakansari City Forest. Especially the trees planted for the first time in the front area of the urban forest. In fact, the growth of several trunks of trees, which are known as the rainbow trees, has passed the target. SeoJeongSik estimated that currently, the height of several trees has reached seven meters, The condition of Pakansari City Forest, which has been in operation for almost two years. 16 One Step Ahead | Vol. 5 Edition 8 – December 2021 Company Information

In addition to optimal management, many environmental factors help trees to grow lush such as sunlight and rain intensity. The benefits that are now starting to be felt by many are the use of weeds as animal feed. At the back part of Pakansari City Forest, there is an area that is difficult to absorb water, or known as wet area. When the rain falls, water often pools around the trees, causing weeds to grow quickly. Despite the risk of damaging tree growth, Korindo Foundation still conducts selective control on weeds. This is done so the surrounding community can utilize is for animal feed. “People who own goats or cows can cut the grass here to feed their livestock,” he explained. He continued by saying that there are many potential benefits that can be created from the existence of Pakansari City Forest. For example, when the trees have grown more lush, the area can become a location for water absorption. This is because Eucalyptus deglupta has the characteristics of roots that are able to absorb large amount of water. On the other hand, Pakansari City Forest can be used as a recreational area for the surrounding community. The leafy canopy of Eucalyptus deglupta allows the visitors to do exercise or just relax under it. The color of the trunk shows colorful streaks, which add a visual sense of comfort. Korindo Foundation will hand over the urban forest management to the Bogor Regency Government in November 2022. “So we are managing it for three years (2019-2021) and will hand it over to the regency government in November 2022,” he concluded. • 34. The 6S method (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Safety, Standardize, and Sustain) is being carried out continuously in all locations of Korindo Group’s business units. This year, the 6S program in several parts of Korindo’s business unit is targeted to achieve level three of sustainability. As we all know, 6S is the basic tool to create cleanliness, order, and safety at workplace. However, most 6S implementations are ‘seasonal’ and not being carried out continuously (sustain). A 6S program can be deemed sustained if all employees in the company have made 6S as a work culture. A change of mindset that 6S is something to do and not a burden should be embedded in every employee’s mind. Work habits of employees at work must also be built in line with 6S principles. 1. Policy and Commitment from the Top Management This effort aims to unite and align a goal or perspective of an organization toward the 6S implementation. To maximize its impact, the company must also create a work plan, determine the structure of the organization, the persons in charge, and the management team of 6S. On the other hand, 6S policy must be understood by all employees and serve as the basis while working. 2. Human Resources Development Human Resources (HR) is a factor with great influence to the success in achieving level three of 6S. Therefore, the development process must be planned and realized in a refined manner. 6S human resource developments that need to be carried out are as follows: Training for 6S trainers Training for 6S auditors Training for 6S committee Training for all employees All the training activities must be reported to the directors to receive evaluation. 3. Patrol and Evaluation Once every two months, the 6S Committee conducts a patrol. This activity aims to find things that are not in accordance with the 6S criteria or criteria that require improvement. The 6S Committee gives a Red Tag in the location where the discrepancies found. All findings must be immediately fixed by the division or organization related to be evaluated on the next patrol. In addition to patrols, each stage of 6S will also be evaluated. This process is conducted at least twice a year to determine the division or organization with the best 6S implementation. 4. Sustainable Improvement and Reports Every finding of discrepancy must be fixed by referring to the concept of Plan Do Check Action (PDCA). Every improvement result must be reported to the director, which will be evaluated by the 6S Committee. One of the continuous improvement programs that can be done is Clean Day. This activity is held once a week. 5. Management Review This activity is necessary to review all the changes and improvements that have been carried out related to 6S. On this management review, there will also be evaluation on the conformity between the plan and the implementation. This review is conducted once a year and can be combined with a review on other management systems. When everything is done, there will be a workplace that is clean, organized, disciplined, and safe. Every employee will also have awareness on the 6S implementation in their workplace. That is where we will see that 6S has become a work culture. 6S Program as a Work Culture (6S Sustainability) 32 One Step Ahead | Vol. 5 Edition 8 – December 2021 Work Culture

  • 37. SKKNI-based Training Development Human Resources Development (HR) in an important program that must be carried out in an organization. This is because HR has a crucial role to the progress of the organization. By having competent (superior) human resources, the organization’s performance will also be better. To develop the competence of human resources, Indonesia has standards called the Indonesian National Competency Standards (SKKNI). SKKNI is the formulation of work ability that includes aspects of knowledge, skills, and/or expertise, and work attitude that are relevant to task performances and determined position requirements. SKKNI is an indicator to determine the competence of a person in skills and abilities needed for work. The skills and abilities certainly must correspond to the field of work of each individual. This system was prepared by the government to optimize the competence of human resources as early as possible, so they will have high qualifications. As an end result, they will be able to compete positively in the field of work and profession they will take on. Korindo Group, through the Learning & Innovation Center, also set SKKNI as one of the basis for the development of its human resources. Started in 2017, Korindo conducts SKKNI-based training. The training is held for employees in plantation, from foremen, plantation assistants, chief assistants, managers, and general managers. The training is conducted in cooperation with Stiper Agricultural Institute (Instiper) as a facilitator. In addition to carrying out SKKNI- based training, Korindo also develops Competency Test Places (TUK) in the same year. The development is carried out under the support of the Professional Certification Body (LSP) of the Ministry of Agriculture. To date, the development of SKKNI- based training is also carried out in other Korindo’s business units. Starting from the development of training modules that are based on SKKNI such as palm oil processing, plywood industry, and paper industry. In the future, a development of SKKNI-based trainings for other business fields will also be held.(Setiyono) Workshop event of Korindo HSEMS last 2018. 35 One Step Ahead | Vol. 5 Edition 8 – December 2021 Work Culture
