The recommendations on FASD of The Standing Committee political statement
1. The recommendations on FASD of The Standing Committee for Justice is a
political statement. It is designed to meet the short term aims of the present
Federal Government. They only considered testimony that was compatible with
those aims.
- Without adequate and accessible diagnostic facilities requests or demands by
judges for an FASD diagnosis will be futile.
- Screening is futile if there is no diagnostic follow up.
- Awareness and training in FASD for professionals is futile if those they are
dealing with do not have a diagnosis.
- The circle of epidemiology surveys diminishes, learning more and more about
less and less; to the point that their importance and significance are lost in the
chaos and enormity of the issue, FASD.
