Discover the importance of rest for your well-being with this insightful video. Learn how nature's cycles can guide you toward better productivity and health.
The natural cycle of the seasons proves that you can benefit from rest. Look at a tree in winter. Its leaves are gone. Its energy and vitality have retreated back into its roots, and it is hibernating, waiting for spring to come and deliver a gorgeous blossom.
Farmers who don't understand how to rest their land may never have bumper crops. The biggest harvests come from crop rotation. A portion of the land is given time to rest. Weather and nature automatically help the soil restore itself when it is time to lie stagnant.
Fruits and vegetables don't bloom every season for the most part. After plants reach maturity and deliver their food, they go dormant. This is a natural process. Without this resting stage, producing the highest quality food is impossible.
As a Natural Being, You Need to Rest Regularly
Just like the earth, plants, and trees, you are a product of nature. That means you can't escape certain natural laws. One of them is that you must rest regularly to be at your best.
Try to get up in the morning and start your day at breakneck speed. Keep that momentum up as long as you can. Push through the entire day. Go to bed and repeat the process. If you attempt to do this, you probably won't make it more than a few hours before you crash and burn, much less a whole day.
You lose mental focus. Your body starts to betray you. Your physical performance suffers.
All living things are at their best when they sprint and rest. You can go for short bursts. As a matter of fact, that's how you were mentally and physically designed. Look at any toddler you know as a clear example of this.
They go hard and fast until they don't. Whenever they want to rest, they stop what they are doing. They can drop just about anywhere in any environment, close their eyes and fall asleep. They don't fight rest. When their body tells them they need to shut down, they do.
Adults can learn from this lesson.
Stop fighting it. If you need to take a break, take a break. Do whatever is restful and relaxing for you.
Just a few of these rest breaks every day can really have a positive impact on your productivity and your health. You'll never be as healthy and capable as you can be if you don't incorporate rejuvenating rest into your daily routine.
