The board aims to address domestic violence, an important issue that is unacceptable and needs to be stopped. It features images of violence in relationships and a school hallway to symbolize young people suffering in abusive domestic situations. The analysis discusses common forms of domestic violence like swearing, hitting, and abuse and accompanies the discussion with links to examples of domestic violence awareness campaigns.

My talk from UX Scotland 2016. This tells the story of a connected device I created for my family. While UX designers are often taught not to design for themselves, through the process I learned a number of lessons about prototyping that are transferrable to other Internet of Things (IoT) projects. During the prototyping phase I also gained first-hand insight into the relationship between Service Design and IoT and the value that Service Design has to offer to connected devices.
This document discusses how limiting a hardware appliance product line can increase revenue, decrease costs, and protect product quality. It argues that too many product choices can overwhelm customers and lead to fewer sales. The document provides examples showing that customers are more likely to purchase from a limited selection of 6 options compared to 24 options. It recommends following the 80/20 rule to identify the most popular configurations and stripping away outliers to simplify the product line. Offering a refined selection of pre-configured systems along with customization options can maximize profits by increasing sales while reducing costs.

So in college, I was a government major, which means I had to write a lot of papers. Now, when a normal student writes a paper, they might spread the work out a little like this. So,you know--
You get started maybe a little slowly, but you get enough done in the first week that, with some heavier days later on, everything gets done, things stay civil.
And I would want to do that like that. That would be the plan. I would have it all ready to go,but then, actually, the paper would come along, and then I would kind of do this.
We dream boldly in the dimension of our doing, but set the bar no higher than stability in our emotional lives. It’s time to dream in multiple dimensions at the same time, says AIDS Ride Founder Dan Pallotta. He aims to transform the way society thinks about giving, and being.

This document outlines Alexey Krivitsky's Agile Coaching Canvas, which is intended to help agile coaches dream, co-create, and share their coaching vision. It discusses the daily work of a Scrum Master compared to the broader impact of agile coaching. It prompts coaches to explore four areas - their usual focus, comfort zone, stretch area, and area needing attention. Coaches are encouraged to think of a real coaching situation and discuss how it relates to the four areas. The document emphasizes listening without judgment to understand others and asking open-ended questions to help explore. It has coaches envision visiting their company in the future after achieving their dreams to see what has changed.
The document discusses techniques for rapid learning and skill acquisition. It begins by introducing the author and objectives of sharing learning techniques. It then discusses why fast learning is important in today's world, citing examples. The core of rapid skill acquisition is breaking skills down into smallest parts and deliberately practicing the most important elements first. The document outlines four major steps: deconstructing skills, learning sub-skills, removing barriers, and focused practice. It provides 10 principles for rapid learning and examples of applying the approach to skills like telephone calling. Finally, it discusses elements like research, mental models, testing ideas, respecting biology, and reading techniques that can aid effective learning.
Self-reinforcement is a study skill that can improve student motivation and achievement. It involves students rewarding themselves with reinforcers when they meet performance criteria on tasks. There are four steps to teaching self-reinforcement: determining standards and criteria for work, selecting a reinforcer, evaluating performance, and self-administering the reinforcer. Examples of effective self-reinforcers include playing a game, talking to friends, or going outside.
This is really a 2 hour presentation I give to high school students cut down to 3 minutes. And it all started one day,on a plane,on my way to TED,7 years ago.And in the seat next to me was a high school student,a teenager, and she came from a really poor family and she wanted to make something of her life. And she asked me a simple little question.
"what leads to success?"
And I felt really badly because I couldn’t give her a good answer. So I get off the plane and I come to TED. And I think, Jesus, I’m in the middle of a room with successful people. So, why don’t I ask them -what helped them succeed and pass it onto kids.
Studying organizational complexity and its effects on scaling agilityAlexey Krivitsky
This document discusses the complexity of organizations and how it affects their ability to scale agility. It explores how inherent technical complexity and added complexity from factors like specialization can increase coordination needs. It also examines how organizations often try to manage this complexity by adding roles like managers, which paradoxically increases complexity further. The document advocates studying an organization's dynamics to better understand these complexity issues and proposes variables like cycle time, quality, work in progress to analyze.

Iterative product development is like a TV series: You tell a story about the product where customers are heroes. User Experience is nothing more or less than good empathetic storytelling.
